I've heard about it. It looks good, but why would I buy it when I have the Oblivion Lost mods 2.1 and above for Shadow of Chernobyl? I think I'll pass.

Because the Oblivion Lost mods retain a LOT of the stuff that SoC in its final version didn't have. And most of the Clear Sky features were borrowed from the Oblivion Lost mods.

It's more of the same. I'll just stick to SoC with my OL mods.

i've been playing that for the past couple days, love the game and its atmosphere.
its actually based off of a russian film called stalker, by the director tarkovsky. he also made the original solaris :]
but maybe you can buy the retail off ebay. i read that with the steam version, it auto patches. and you can lose your save games from an update :/ also, some mod's only work on certain patch versions. so again the steam version on that is kind of bad.
great game though either way you go.

It's extremely loosely based on Stalker, which was a book / short story anyway. All they took out really is the fact that there are weird anomalies in the zone and you throw bolts. The movie is like a 6 hour borefest, same with Solaris. I wanted to die, and I didn't watch that much. ninja
DarkSide already offered he could mail me a copy from California, but I still haven't decided what to do. I don't have time to play it right now anyway.

Hurray! My next door Wal-mart finally had some copies... which is odd, considering the bigger electronics places didn't.

Heh, it's the entire series on DVD. That gap is gone now... I think I'll need to take out some of the DVDs.

Well, I've finally got the game and played it. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed. While it does provide a really good atmosphere, the game is far the hell too glitchy and buggy for its own good. Even with the patches and mods like Clear Sky Complete, I still can't seem to advance the game any further without experiencing those annoying bugs that come out of nowhere and at the worst possible times. When I got to the Limansk level, it was so incredibly buggy that even making a save there can cause that dreaded CTD bug when loading it again. That there prevented me from completing the game. Sure, there may be some new interesting motifs that have never been seen before in SoC but it feels like a "been there, done that" type of thing to me. Even SoC wasn't this buggy.
Call of Pripyat is still the best S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game ever and I will always come back to playing it. Sorry, Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky (yes, I'm looking at you, the latter).
