Nadine was tired. Age was getting the best of her, and she no longer felt the strength she once had. Her cubs were grown and now an integrated part of the pride, soon to have their own cubs no doubt. Her mate wasn't around much either, and so Nadine felt tired, right down to her bones. It was time. The next generation must take over, and she would see that the best person for the job got it. She would listen to each applicant, she would hear what they had to say, and tell if they had the integrity to lead. She hated to do it, but it was time, and she knew it. She'd had a good rein.

So Nadine announced it to the Pride, and the neighboring prides, and set up a time for each lion interested in becoming Artyum Pride leader to see her and plead their case. She shall see if there are any strong enough.

[[ Please compose a prompt, pleading your case to become leader of Artyum Pride. Leadership will be based on character integrity, as well as RP skills and initiative shown. Regulars are encouraged to apply. I want to see Artyum succeed, but i havn't the time to do it myself with running the shop. I will be a part of it however, just with different lions. Nadine will retire to her Den when this is all over with, and i doubt i'll RP her again. If i do, it will be in a plot RP.

Please only post once. Do not godmod Nadine for responses. Her response is sitting there listening, that's all you can RP of her. It's as if you were making a speach. ]]

"My name is Adhiraj," the male began in a soft spoken tone, his maw splitting into a wide grin as he spoke fondly of his mother, "My mother told me once that I was named for a great King, to follow in his foot steps." He wasn't a very opposing figure to be certain; in every way Adhiraj was just an average lion. He had no pretty pattern to make him stand out, no scars from fights long past. "I don't come to you to fulfill this destiny proclaimed to me. I mean, doesn't every mother wish their son to grow and be like a King in the eyes of lions everywhere?" He smiled a bit, sitting on the ground before Nadine as though he were visiting with an old friend, and not trying to become the leader of a pride.

"I'm limited in experience with prides, until now I was simply a wanderer, but I am a leader. Somehow it always falls to me to lead myself and others out of danger." He said honestly, snorting softly. "It's a position that has been thrust upon me, but I'm certainly not complaining. The experience has made me learn how best to deal in situations of panic. I've been told I'm a... comforting lion." He was nervous, though he tried not to show it. The tuft of his tail betrayed the way his tail was shaking as it lay flat; his ears twitched every so often. It was evident he had no confidence that he'd win out over any other lion that might apply. But this... This was important to him, one could see it in the glow of his eyes when he spoke. He just hoped he could speak what he felt without sounding like an absolute idiot. "I'm certainly a smart lion, I doubt I would have lived this long if I wasn't clever and intelligent enough to survive, thank Zahina." He quirked a smile, but it faltered after a minute, and he sighed.

"I know I don't cut a striking appearance, Nadine." He said finally, shoulders slumping forward. But only a little; he wasn't giving up entirely, oh no. Not in front of her. "I've no real experience leading more then a handful of rogue lions and a few very smart bobcats. I'm not larger or faster then any other lion you will no doubt see." He looked at her solemnly, brown eyes hopeful and at the same time, certain of his failure at proving that he really was worthy of this position. "But I do want this. I want it with every ounce of my heart. Not just for me, but for the rest of the pride. Because I know I will try to always do what's best for the pride." He tried to smile, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Thank you, for hearing me out." He added quietly, rising and bowing his head in respect. "I sincerely hope you'll consider me for your pride."

((OOC: I know he has literally no experience, but I couldn't help throwing him into the competition. It'd be interesting to see him having to learn everything on the spot for the sake of the pride.))

Patch didn't even know why she was here proposing to be a leader. Maybe it was curiosity or a need to prove something to herself. Then she remembered her old pride and new exactly why she was here. She had a promise to keep. "I was a Ekala Adhāra for half my life," Patch began her speech, "I remember telling the lions in Ekala, 'I would do whatever I could to prove my worth. I may just be a little silly cub now but I can be very helpful and when I grow I'll be a big help' I never did get a chance to prove my worth. I hope to do so.

I was born a lone cub with a bit of a wild side but once within a community I discovered the most important necessity to life. Support. Without support perhaps a lion could have a healthy physical life, but their mental health would be severely at risk. I would try as leader to bring everyone to act like a family and support each other. If someone was neglecting responsibilities I would talk to him or her directly and make them feel important and needed. If things got tough I’d be all right with making risky decisions.

As a leader, a lioness must have the pride’s safety as a first priority. Being loved or popular doesn’t matter, as long as my decisions are the right one for everyone.

I speak openly without being shy when I meet new lions, now that I'm grown. I'm not afraid of what others think of me. I just like to be social.

I love cubs. I have a playful side for sure. So, you know I’m not a stern and strict lioness. But I can and will be if necessary.

So aside from being a leader, if someone is more qualified then myself, I would defiantly like to help the leader and pride in any way that I can."

Patch’s brain felt a bit raddled. It was fun to come out of her shell and speak her mind to new people. A bit too trilling. She felt sick. She hadn’t met many lions before; even within her old flock she was very much alone with only her dearest friend by her side. Now she was trying to join a large group and meet many lions. She nodded to Nadine to show she was done. Then she stepped aside to breath and see who else she was up against.
