A library is a hospital for the mind...

Welcome to the Music thread. Talk about anything music. I will be taking special requests for those of you who have a crappy download speed, or can't find a specific song. If I can find it, I'll let you know and put it up on a website for you to download from. If I can't, I'll let you know and continue trying.

As for my favorite types of music, well I'll listen to anything. I greatly detest most rap artists, I like to listen to music that isn't about "Some whore I banged in the back of my cadillac while smoking some weed, throwing back a 40 before I busted a cap in the gangsta's a**." Same with pop, most pop singers sing about "How their boo was cheating on them with some philly down on the corner." Or, "That girls' a** was fly when she was dancing in the club wearing apple bottom jeans and boots with the fur... THE FUR!"

It should be all about the beat, the rythem, the lyrics, the way it makes you feel when you listen to it it. biggrin

... I have always imagined that Paradise will be a library.

The two songs I'm currently obsessed with are "Citizen Soldier" by 3 Doors Down and "Warrior" by Kid Rock.

So while you guys are here, why not tell us some of your favorite lyrics, too?

I really like the ones from the Tarzan song. "In learning you will teach and in teaching you will learn."

"Oh the power to be strong and the wisdom to be wise, all these things will come to you in time. On this journey that you're making, there'll be answers that you'll see."

"Son of man look to the sky, lift your spirits, set it free. Someday you'll walk tall with pride. Son of man a man in time you'll be."

Hmm Right now I think one of my fav songs is "Courage Is" by The Strange Familiar

"Courage is when you're afraid,
But you keep on moving anyway
Courage is when you're in pain,
But you keep on living anyway.......
Like a bird with broken wings
It's not how high he flies,
But the song he sings"

Other than that...Country for the most part. Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts all the way!

I like a couple of Taylor Swift songs. They are cute and upbeat ones. Currently my obsession is piano songs like "Bella's Lullaby" and "Still" and "Angel" by Matt Nathanson. OH OH and I like that David Archuletta song, "Crush". And if no one knows who he is, he's that runner up in last years American Idol. My mom told me biggrin

I'm gonna learn how to play Bella's Lullaby on the piano. The thing is that there's like 3 different versions of it that I've heard. There's the iTunes version, which is like a freaking orchestra and I disapprove. Then there's the one they played in the movie, which was okay. And then there's the one I HAVE which is absolutely excellent and currently on my Myspace page. Yeah, and that's the one I'm going to learn.

But at the moment I like some Nickelback and I'm finding all the playlists that Stephenie Meyer listened to while writing her books, so that's what I'm listening to. And Muse.

Piano music? >_> <_< I don't listen to piano. The only song that I have that's kinda instrumental aside from the ones you gave me are from this one group called "Sacred Drums" or something like that. I only have one of their songs. But it's more of a nature-sounding atmosphere thing.

I have no piano suggestions...but. Guitar is good.

Kaki King, she's one of the artists who composed some of the guitar music for August Rush, specifically Bari Improve, where August has just found Roxanne in the morning.

I also like Ritual Dance by her, a great piece.

I love ritual dance. That little girl singing just makes me squee. I like piano music.. soft melodies it's very relaxing. You should always listen to relaxing stuff, especially when you read it enhances your brain for more understanding of what you are reading biggrin

I've never heard that, but that's a good tip. :] I'll keep that in mind if I ever get back to college. >_< I'll have to keep those names in mind, though for future reference.

Like I said, at the moment I'm currently obsessed with those two songs, but I normally listen to anything. I don't like genres or artists. Just lyrics and songs.

Well, I've never had official lessons in playing piano, but my mom is pretty good. For some reason I can't read music so I can only memorize how to play a song. Right now I've gotten most of He's A Pirate down pat. And I can also play a few notes on guitar, nothing big.

I can play the baseline from Orgy's Blue Monday.... and something from a Black Sabbath song. But that's the extent of my guitar knowledge. I'm good at remembering lyrics and song names, and bands and trivial useless information. Like I could tell you how N'Sync got their name.... but... I'm not gonna go that far.
