A library is a hospital for the mind...
Anyone ever tried to read the classics? Like Moby d**k, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice? I have tried, and I seem to stumble on the language. It's not that I don't understand the English language. The way things are described. The fluidity of the sentences. Sometimes the over usage of words, that could simply be cut out and the words would still mean the same.
I got half way through Wuthering Heights, and had to stop. I often found myself re-reading paragraphs trying to understand what specific thing they are talking about. I wonder if maybe if I had started off with them when I was younger that I wouldn't have such a hard time with them now. I can remember reading books that were said to be to advance for my age at the time and understanding them completely. The words, the story, the background, the feelings. I understood it all, but now I find it to be a little bit harder.
... I have always imagined that Paradise will be a library.

Okay so I started Jane Eyre, and it is much better so far. There aren't thirty words to get one point across, it's a smoother read. Which is slightly confusing because Emily Bronte [Wuthering Heights] and Charolette Bronte [Jane Eyre] were sisters. So much confusion. But I'll get through it guys and let you know what I think.

Some of the greater things in life are unseen...I've read a few classics like Little Women, and The Secret Garden, attempted to read Pride and Prejudice once, very very hard for me. Other than that, I've never given it a thought. Some are easy to read, I can understand the words and the point they are trying to get across. But sometimes it's just too many words. 4laugh ...that's why you close your eyes when you kiss, cry, or dream.

The Secret Garden was one of the first few classics I had ever read. I read it in Chinese when I was 7 or 8. A reread in the original language occurred...13 or 14, I want to say. It is a very cute book and I really enjoyed it.
Pride and Prejudice... I read it for English class my senior year. I mean, it's not that I didn't want to read it. Hell, I read it when I barely knew any English (which is why I only remembered the title, and nothing else in that book). It's...terribly romantic, but the main character(s) are very unethical and different. And perhaps that's what I liked best.
Shakespeare Why do we have to read it for English? I think that just sucks all the fun out of it. The only one that I enjoyed after English is "Midsummer Night's Dream" and that's 'cause it was a comedy. The tragedies killed my brain.
