In the thick woods and brush of the mountains to the south of the island the snow was deep. The air cold, so much so that most Tae wouldn't venture here unless they had a good winter coat. But among the snow and low hanging branches the small creature rested. The rise and fall of his side showing that he still breathed. The young one was along in this cold weather. No one around to help keep him warm or safe from the dangers that the beauty of winter brought with her.

The strong winds blow by, causing heavy snow to fall from a branch above and land around the little Rina. The black and white male didn't move from his spot or event wake, he remained curled up on a crystal blue pillow his eyes closed. It was as though he hadn’t noticed from with in his deep sleep. The howling of the wind far over powered the noise his stomach made as it begged him to wake and feed if. He shifted slightly and a chocolate brown eye opened for a moment before closing again.

The chilling wind died down for a little while and the light power like snow rested down for now. The sound of paw steps could be heard not far off and the little black and white ears perked up and turned slightly. The young Rina stretched and slowly the small brown eye fluttered open, and then the blue one as well. He lay there a few moments before sitting up and looking around. Letting out a small noise that sounded like a cross between a mew and a yip, his thick tail flicking back and forth behind him. He knew someone was other there in that snow, he could smell them.

Still being young his eyes sit wasn’t fully developed as of yet, so he couldn’t see to well yet. Making that same strange mewing noise he stood and stepped off of the small pillow he had been resting on. He pulled back a little as his tiny paw touched the snow, shivering a little before stepping down fully again and wondering towards the scent of the other Tae.

Yuki stopped as he hear Minh’s voice. He stared up at the adult Tae, letting out yet another odd mewing noise. He lowered his bottom and sat before the other Tae staring up at him, tilting his head a little to the side. He didn’t fully understand the adults words, after all this was his first time around an adult Tae and the first time he had heard speech.

Mewing he stood again and moved closer to the other male, leaning his small and chilled form against Minh. He had a thicker winter coat them most other Tae. He was made more for weather like this but that didn’t mean that he wouldn’t get cold at all.

Yuki let out another soft cry as Minh lifted him off his own feet but the Rina didn’t struggle to get free from the older males grasp. He wasn’t completely sure what was going on but he knew that this other form was warm and comforting. He laid as close to the adult as he could, wiggling around to get even closer. His eyes where closed and he was almost asleep before his stomach began to growl and his eyes opened a little. Wiggling around again his shifted, beginning to nose around under Minh’s tummy sniffing and licking at the adults belly looking for food.

Yuki let out a sharp cry as Minh pulled away from him, the cry being followed by a whimper. He sat up pulling himself closer to the adult and making that same strange noise he made, but it was becoming more desperate and high pitched. The kit was hungry. He had no understanding that this male couldn't provide him with food like he could warmth and Yuki's instinct had told him where the food was to come from.

In little Yuki’s mind this male was his ‘mother’. He didn’t know any better really. He had no understanding that a male couldn’t be his mother. Normally the first form a kit saw was it’s mother, it was another instinct in world of a new born.

When Minh moved to far out of Yuki’s reach the kit whimpered loudly but he remained on the pillow for now. He plopped his bottom down and stared at the other a moment his head tilting a little to the side as the male spoke. Even if he understood the little kit wouldn’t know where his mother had gone. That is if he had one.

Yuki flopped back off his pillow, letting out a squeak as he did. He lay there staring back at the adult as Minh took his ice blue pillow and wondered off with it. Watching the other male walk away Yuki pushed himself to his paw, his head tilted to the side just a little as he watched Minh reveal the world beyond the copse to his own tiny eyes.

He didn’t know what it was the spotted male wanted of him but seeing this new world Yuki charged forward bounding past Minh and out into the deeper snow unknowing on it’s depth. With one tiny bound he jumped from the thin layer to the deep, sinking out of sit with a yip.

Yuki felt himself be lifted up out of the deep snow by the scruff at the back of his neck. Wiggling a little as first he tried to see what was lifting him until he caught the other males scent again and fell still. Once Minh set him down and told him to ‘stay’ he sent about trying to shake the cold snow from his black and white coat. However as he shook he became dizzy and fell over, just replacing the old snow with the new.

Just then Minh lifted him again, the kit letting out a tiny yip before hanging still from the males jaws. As Minh sloshed through the deepening snow Yuki’s hind legs and bottom dragged through it as well and he shivered, whimpering slightly once or twice and tried to pull his legs up out of it. But he was still to young to have any real strength in his legs to it wasn’t long before they would once more be dragging in the snow.
