The cave entrance is unassuming - other than the traces of strangely golden sand visible here and there on the dirt path, there is very little to mark the place as sacred or god-blessed. For the first one hundred feet into the cavern, all seems normal. The stalactites and stalagmites are beautiful, but not so unabashedly spectacular as to seem out of the ordinary. Here and there there are niches in the walls, apparently natural, with soft glowing orbs within to give light.
Yet, as one moves deeper into the cave, a hush falls - a thicker, deeper silence than one would expect. The cavern narrows, and the sides smooth out, obviously artificially carved rather than naturally formed. The strata in the stone is clearly visible, lovingly maintained so that all the layers shine in the light.
behold Time, you walk through it
The narrow way opens up after that, into a great cavern - and here, only now, can one say without a doubt that this is the dwelling place of a deity. The vast cavern is easily four stories tall, and one enters along a ledge in the middle. From that, paths spiral up the walls into a honeycomb of smaller caves - but very few notice them, not at first.
Not when there are the Sands to look at.
The hush and slide of the golden Sands softens and muffles all other sound. In the center of the vast cavern, dwarfing all who come near, is a tremendous Hourglass formed of finely wrought crystal, apparently formed naturally from the cavern itself, yet surely such precision could not be natural? How long would it take for such a thing to be created by any hand?
yet Time is no barrier, not here, not to Me
Within the great crystal Hourglass, the golden Sands fall constantly, yet neither side ever fills up completely. Time marches on. It is said that to listen to the Sands is to hear the voices of the past and the future. Some go mad, trying to pick out sense from the vastness of Infinity. Others merely smile, and bow, and move on their ways.
At the center of the Hourglass, the junction of Past and Future, the crystal of the Glass bows out slightly, just enough for one shining figure to take Her seat.
This is the Temple of Time, the domain of Ananke.

The Temple of Time is set into a complex of caves in the mountain, centered around the Great Cavern - a massive, four-story-tall cavern that holds the Hourglass. The Hourglass is a tremendous construction of crystal that seems to have somehow flowed naturally, seamlessly from the rock around it. Within it, the golden Sands fall ceaselessly, forever. The sound of the falling Sands fills the Great Cavern with a constant hush. It is said that if you listen to the Sands for long enough, you will hear the voices of the Past and the Future.
Ananke's throne is on the Hourglass, at the central point where Past and Future meet.
One enters the Great Cavern onto a large ledge two stories above the Cavern's floor. The base of the Hourglass covers and consumes the entire floor of the Great Cavern; its top does the same for most of the ceiling, save a few places where stalactites descend. There are many light-orbs worked into these stalactites to give illumination to the Cavern below.
From the entry ledge, one can follow four paths. Two paths rise to the left to caves in the left wall; two more rise to the right to caves in the right wall. There is also a cave opening high up on the back wall behind the Hourglass, but it can only be reached by flying.
Left Lower Path: This path leads to a small cluster of caverns meant to house guests of the Temple. This area contains a few bedrooms, a 'mess hall', and a shared bathroom.
Left Upper Path: These caverns are the dwelling place of Ananke's faithful, and the attendants of the Temple. This part of the Temple has many bedrooms and study chambers, some of which have windows that look out into the Great Cavern. It also has a mess hall and a large kitchen that also serves the guest hall.
Right Lower Path: This path leads to...
Right Upper Path: This path leads to another tremendous cavern complex, one that burrows deep into the mountain like a maze. It is filled with books of history and prophecy, both sacred and profane. Caring for the Library is a huge task and requires magical skill to manage properly. While the Library is exhaustive on the topics of history and prediction, it contains absolutely no information on any other subjects. Such things are the domains of others.
Sacred Cavern: This cavern complex, accessible only by flying, is the sacred chambers of Ananke and her best beloved. Only the Goddess, Her most trusted priests, and her chosen guests are permitted to enter this holy place.
Rules of the Temple: While within the Temple, all inhabitants and guests must follow Ananke's laws.
- rule - rule - I RULE - *bricked*
