“The Seven”
Chapter 1: The Patriot
This is the scene we awake upon on this early Sunday morning. I sit and ponder my true purpose as I walk onto my patio, and the screams of the city try to fight with the silence of the early morning, the sirens of this wild city yell louder and louder but the inhabitant of this once fair city seem not to notice. It seems like an eternity since “the seven” were disbanded due to the government ban on superhuman heroes. The ban was pasted due to “animal” a superhuman who snapped under the extreme scrutiny of the public eye and brutally murdered a family of five on vacation in his city. In the following weeks small anti hero groups started to pop up with out outlandish legislation. From laws which would enslave us to laws that would put us down like unwanted dogs in a over crowded pound.
As I hear my wife awake in the background, I drift into memory's of when I adorned my overly tight, patriotic costume which suck to me as if I had nothing on at all. Chasing costumed villains as if it was all a childish game we never gave up. As I think of my past adventures I can’t seem to recall what became of all my comrades in arms. The ones who asked for the mantle of “hero” and the ones who didn’t, like I.
I was a “thug” in every since of the word, I robbed, stole and beat my way threw the ranks of my gang until the day I was caught. The judge that was overseeing my case was a World War 2 vet and thought boot camp was the answer to my problemed life. Having no family there was no one to object to the Idea. What I and the judge did not know was the camp was a government testing grounds for a new super solider project, “project Tomorrow” it was called. Breeding the heroes of tomorrow, today. I with many other were the test subjects. I was one of the lucky few that survived and didn’t crack. We were trained in century old martial arts as well as extreme physical and mental tests. We were trained sharp shooting by the best the government could find.
Some of us that weren’t all there in the head ate it up so quickly it made me sick just watching. But I hid in the background until the scientists found that I had a rare geneobe that they were looking for, a geneobe that the superhuman serum bounded with. I wasn’t the only one with it but I was the only one that the serum didn’t drive insane from its extreme demanded on the body. Once the serum took its it hold the government decided that I must be educated. So for two years straight I was taught by the smartest men and women on the planet. When it was finished the project was renamed project “patriot”, So in stead of a solider they got a symbol, a hero.
In my first years as The Patriot, I had an ideology that was I am here for the people to protect and serve them. And it worked like that until a crazed lunatic that was part of “project tomorrow” decided every hero needs a Villain. He destroyed an entire capital with his bare hands. Where was I you ask. I was doing my weekly parade for the people,I wasn’t doing this for the people I was doing this for my self. So because of my selfishness and ego, millions died. From that day on I quit working the jobs the government approved and struck out on my own to truly defend my country. I went five years alone in the struggle, my body growing stronger but my spirit growing weaker. That’s when I first met “The Seven” the first of whom I met was “Freak” a super-fast jokester in whom I grew close to as a friend, a person I could for the first time call a comrade. Then I met “Babylon” the leader of the team a strong willed older man that when you looked past his blank expressionless face into his eyes you could tell he was in pain but could not find a way out of this addictive lifestyle. My mouth dropped when I met “Serene” this tall beauty that was the strongest women I’ve ever met, not to mention the her tight green costume that met with her brunette
hair which tried to hide her glowing green eyes.....
