Magazine Bowls

1.
First of all grab 2 or 3 old magazines and rip all the pages out of it. It's suprisingly satisfing..

2.
Fold page in half.
Unfold it then fold the two edges to meet in the middle.
Fold the edges into the middle again and once more.

3.
Grab your glue stick and put a little bit on the paper. Fold it in half, glue side in.

4.
Roll your strip up into a little spiral. It may be a bit hard at first and might rip a little but dotn worry, it gets easier as it goes on. Tape the end to itself.

5.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 and the tape the start of this strip to the same place the first one finished.
Roll it around its self and tape the end.
6.
Keep repeating the previous step until you have a big enough disk.
The size really depends on how big you want your bowl... mine is about 25cm wide.
Now you have to take your disk and pull the top up and move it around until you have your desired bowl shape. Try using a real bowl as a guide.

7.
Now carefully take your bowl and varnish it so it stays strong and shiny. If you don’t have any varnish or a brush so i used watered down PVA and a sponge.
8.
There you have a beautiful, earth friendly bowl that you can use for what ever you wish.
I use it to put the contents of my pockets in at the end of the day. eg. phone, keys, lip balm...

Haaa. First day back and I was going to post this very same craft.
I'm working on one right now. I'm being picky about colors so mine is going to take quite some time to finish.
I'll post pictures when I'm done.

I'm using super glue so it's wonderfully dangerous.
Yes I've glued my fingers together twice already.

All of my vinyl is far too precious to melt. I could check with a thrift shop maybe find something I'm willing to warp.
Always wanted to do record bowls. it seems like something Clarissa would have done on Clarissa Explains it All. Hmm being from NZ .. have you ever heard of that show? It was the best.

...Nope unfortunately I havent heard of that programme yet.... as for the Vinyl... thats exactly what I thought.... I wouldnt dream of touching my own collection so I went to the junk shop and picked up 5 secondhand records for $1 .. Because I have a fan forced oven I ended up putting the oven on grill and not bake, it melted the records a lot more evenly....
