Koruta is a world located in the skies of Aster, it's name meaning "cloud kingdom" and pronounced as 'koh-roo-tah'. It is one of the few places where uninfected beings can survive. Although it is home to many other perils, such as dragons, storms, and occasional raids of Enraged airborne creatures, there is much peace.
Beings who dwell in Koruta are generally called by their race name with the word "Sky" tagged on the beginning. Common races that can be found in Koruta cities are as follows:
Sky elves
Sky men (sky dwelling humans)
Sky dwarves
Sky gnomes
Dragon-kin
Avian-folk
Pixies
Sky fauns
Sky centaurs
Korutian races are not limited to the ones above.
Cities of Koruta come in Four types: Platform, Suspended, Ship-bound, and Cloud.
Platform cities remain in one place, being suspended by jets or gravitational devices. These cities are generally made of metal or wood and consist of a system of complex machinery and technology. They can be operated by steam or electricity, but are all very high maintenance. Platform cities have the most diverse populations.
Suspended cities also remain in one place, but there is more mystery as to how they remain in the air. These cities are usually chunks of sanitary rock or earth that are held aloft presumably by some form of magic or machinery (depending on the type of folk that live there). It is much easier to grow food and herbs in these cities, and so they make a very good living through trade. Suspended cities are favoured by Sky centaurs, Sky dwarves, and Dragon-kin.
Ship-bound cities are moving (unless docked) and are generally giant air ships. Hundreds of people are able to live on these ships, which are usually either made of wood or metal. These cities vary in size and shape, some ships having the city above deck, others having the city below deck. Others, still, have the city on several levels, whilst some ships are completely enclosed, and thus the whole city and crew are contained inside. Ship-bound cities are favoured by Sky-men, Sky fauns, and Sky gnomes.
Cloud cities are the most rare and strange of all. How the inhabitants were able to build their homes upon something like a cloud is a mystery, but these people managed it somehow. The cities are made of a light marble-like material or glass, and are the most peaceful. Many monasteries and cathedrals can be found in these cities. Sky elves, Avian-folk, and pixies primarily inhabit these cities.
Although each race as a whole has their own preference, representatives from each -as well as unmentioned races- can be found in any of the cities.
