The shadow lands are also known as the "Hrounatrau" [hraow-nah-traow], meaning the "silent three". This is because there are three dark and shadowy continents that are so sinister and forboding that any person that has gone there in attempts to find a new home for their people has either run shakily back to the craft that carried them there before even taking ten steps inland, or have never returned if brave or stupid enough to go further into the mist. It is presumed that monsters dwell here, perhaps it is even the resting place of the beasts that plague the sky cities. After all, most flying creatures need to come out of the sky sometimes, too. But no sounds seem to come from these continents. No bird calls, insect whirrings, or even the babble of running water. Even the sound of the ocean waves upon the shore becomes hollow and quiet, perhaps because of the thick fog.
Not much is known about these lands save that they are dangerous and not suitable for living upon.
