This week we lost 3 great icons in entertainment their passing although with 2 of them wasn't unexpected(Ed MacMaohn(sp) age, Farrah Fawcett cancer) it still hit me hard. The passing of Michael Jackson totally floored me.I grew up watching all three careers and enjoyed all of them.

My parents are the ones that watched Johnny Carson religiously and had me hooked too. Ed was an awesome "straight" man for Johnny and as so often happened Johnny inadvertently became Ed's "straight" man.His stint as the host of star search(preclude to America's got talent for you young girls)kept his momentum going after leaving the "Tonight Show" he was much more likable then Arsinio was.How could any of us geezer forget about his ranting that we could be the next 10 million dollar winner for PCH.So in rememberance of Ed let me type out his most famous line........"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRREEEEs JOHNNY".......rip Ed

With Farrah yes I had the infamous red bathing suit poster in my room as a child but not in the traditional way that most boys did.For me it was something to aspire to I had secretly wanted to look like her. When the announced her passing yesterday it deeply hurt even though I never met her.She started out in bit cheesy commercial parts then got her big break with Charlies Angels she wasn't a very good actress but over the years she developed into one of the best stage/small screen dramatic actresses.IMO her best acting roll was "The burning bed"......rip Farrah

Michael Jackson....what can I say about him? My jaw hit the floor when I turned on the evening news to learn he was gone.I can vividly remember his career from the Jackson5 to the last He grew up about 75 miles from where I did.He was the greatest pop/soul performer of all times even with all his eccentricities. We will never know what truly went on in Neverland that's between God Michael and the kids.We may not agree on the man but the artist/performer brought out the screaming little girls in all of us for me even at the end his music turned into a guilty pleasure to listen to......rip Michael

Lets all Pray for their souls in whatever manner we do for we lost 3 great people this week. crying

Well Its really been a sad week in entertainment just learned two more have left us Gale Storm(87) she was an old timey actress from back around the Lucile Ball era,her I only knew by name. Then there is Mr. infomercial Billy Mays(50) has left us as well I don't know about any of you but you almost couldn't surf past an infomercial w/out coming across him.
Seems to me the Famous need to take stock in their lives cause it seems someone isn't happy with them. Just my opinion

Those guys were great people. It sucks because my mom grew up with them and she's really sad that they've left us.

It's sad that Michel and Billy had to die so young...
Stange that they both died at 50 though.

As for the ones who died of old age, at least they were able to live great lives and will never be forgotten in history.

As for Farrah, I really feel bad there. Cancer was a common thing in my family because of all the smokers and it's a devastating disease sad
I'm thankful that her suffering has come to an end. She could have gone for years and years more, just suffering in a hospital bed...

Yet another to post The senseless apparent murder of Steve McNair former quarterback of the Tennessee Titans.

I wish I could end this thread but the powers that be seem to be cleaning house on celebrities.

I hear ya.
After Mays passed it took a few days for the corporates to pull his various commercials. I still remember seeing his one for life insurance, where he is explaining how it was important to be ensured for the unpredictable future. His family was even in that one and it was still running a day after he passed. It was horrible.

I also found out last week that the acclaimed director/writer/producer John Hughes passed away 6 August at the age of 59. I couldn't believe it!
What a sad cycle of time this has been.

It is sad that they have passed but it was all over the tv like cnn I just don't think that it should have been on there
My father passed away a little befor mj but I didn't think it was something that everyone had to see for weeks after and again it's sad that anyone has to leave us but it should be more private for the familys that have to morn the loss of their loved one

all al0ne is all we are

Really now, what is with all this mourning? I with all due respect yet honesty believe that it is tad selfish to do so. This is life. What is it without death?

I made up a saying; "One by one we are lost to the corrupted soils of the earth but I am quickly reminded that we will eventually meet up in the next extension."

Be it if you believe in heaven, reincarnation , or even parallel universes. Forgive me for sounding religious or just deep in general but Life is also just one big continuation. Why get caught up in one moment?

I think that is an over-generalization, Just because all the stars you hear about in the news are doing bad things doesn't mean that they are all doing bad things. In fact a lot are doing a lot of good things. Like even before Farrah had cancer she donated to cancer charities to help cure and Ed Macmahon before he lost all his money helped a lot of people with it. Just because they're in the spot light it makes what they do seem so much worse. Like the drug thing with Michael, and the drug thing. If it was a regular person people would feel sorry for him but I hear people bashing him on that.I don't think that he really raped those kids because if I had a son and someone did that to them I wouldn't rest until that person was in jail. Money wouldn't matter.

your right if they weren't in the public eye we wouldn't even know about the bad things as for MJ's drug use its sad it was his demise maybe it will help other realize drugs aren't the answer...As for as the kid thing I don't think he did it either I think he was just over generous and wanted to give kids a childhood he never had
