I had been hanging out in the exchange a lot, looking for a Fremere's Guard. I noticed something really sad too. A lot of password phishing threads and scammers. I made a topic about buying a Fremere's Guard and it was made top priority to a mod, over a thread that was trying to scam people. I saw the same one quite a few times before it was forgotten by the Exchangers and they went on with whatever they were doing. They usually just die because of lack of posting, instead of being removed by a mod. How sad is that? A mod wastes their time moving a thread to a different forum, instead of getting rid of a thread that could be hacking people at that very moment.

I don't worry with Mods anymore. As far as I'm concerned they're all biased.

Yeah, that's true. But still, they shouldn't be so biased as they are. They should keep their feelings out of their job. Too many stories of someone being banned or something because a friend of a mod reported them for something stupid or a lie.
There's also bias in their work with your example. They don't seem to report threads right in front of them. They blindly rely on reports to handle the task 100% for them. At least it feels like it. I had an experience where a Mod warned me for flaming and didn't do anything with the thread I posted in, which was full of flaming, until I brought it up. >.<

Mods just don't seem to care anymore. Its like you said, very sad. Sometimes seeing all this happening makes me think gaia doesn't care anymore.

I get the impression that gaia really doesn't care about anything other than the money nowadays... There are all these scamms and they used to be a community that cared about its users. Now all it cares about it the money they bring in. So my question is what happened to make it this way?

Also they need more mods. Now if they would only hire me as a mod.... I applied two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything back. I'm getting annoyed.

Sometimes I feel as if there were no mods at all. Take towns for example. If you go to Directory and take a look at "Recent Topics", you get a feeling you are reading a porn catalog. Everything is only "cyber here", "hot gay sex", "under 16" etc. Is there even a mod controlling this?

hey mei, where the hell do you apply as a mod, cause there are a dozen or more people in this guild that would make better mods than the f***ers that have turned this from a great site to just another advertisement

Whoa, wait. They don't moderate towns, but they are biased about...anything? They don't have time to be biased or relying soley on reports to do something! They should be paying more attention to their site and its people! Lately I've been running into too many scam posts in the Exchange forum, which is irritating, because I've pretty much just fallen to shopping in the Marketplace as a result. I do hope you become a mod, Ms. Mei, and others like you. Because its become way too obvious that Gaia doesn't give a crap about its users anymore. >(

Most Mods are idiots.. But Some mods are trying hard to do their best for the site and their users. A friend of mine is asigned to multiple forums and as far as I know he is doing a good job...

Like everyone else is saying, I read in the Become A Mod thread, I was told by a mod, that if anyone were to become a mod, that if you were to come across any inappropriate threads, or chatting, unless you're thread mod or town mod and mostly unless someone reports it, there's nothing you can do as a mod because you'll appear biased if you ban the thread, Gaian or whatever it is.

A lot of the stuff that gets reported takes a while to have anything done about it for two reasons.
1. There arent all that many mods in the grand scheme of things. (Especially with the way the sites growing.) 2. The sheer ammount of reports they have coming in take a while to get through, this site has many users and that ammounts to a heck of a lot of reports every day with only a limited number of mods to deal with them.
This in my opinion is why Gaia is pushing to recruit more, as the site grows so must the moderation team. As for the bias? Well...I can understand why mods, especially seasoned ones, would be put off intervening in some cases. Sometimes you get trolls who will go out of their way to poke holes in your decisions to try to make you look like the bad guy, to make it look like you are mis-using your powers. (This happens more often than you would think.)
*Edit* Please excuse any spelling/grammar mistakes, it's late here and I have dyslexia.
*Edit number 2* I'm also not trying to start any arguements here, my reason for posting this was to try to reassure you all that there are atleast some of us out there who are trying our butts off to make this site a better place, myself included.
