LATE BREAKING NEWS : Mini-event launch is on hold. We found a showstopper bug today, which is unfortunately a mystery issue. We're working on it, but we'll need more time for testing after we resolve it...so definitely not tomorrow (Thursday).

Bummer, but it's better than launching with a bad bug. There is no revised time estimate, as we're still trying to determine the cause of the issue.

More soon.

-- Q.

============================================
Update Details:

Random events will occur in various zones now at random times, more in prime time than in off-hours. If you are in the proper zone when it occurs, you will be notified so that you're aware that it's happening. NOTE: This is just the start of the event structure. We'll be adding more and more events...some of them quite large!...in the coming months.

Instructions and details of the events are supplied to players in the zone when the event begins, but as a teaser for the sort of things you can expect to see, here's a list of the events:

- Barton Town : Aerial Bombardment! (CL 2.0 and below)
- Village Greens : Rotary Menaces! (CL 2.0 and below)
- Bill's Ranch : Grucken Chuckin'! (Unlimited CL!)
- Zen Gardens : Deadman Spies! (CL 4.0 and below)
- Bass'ken Lake : BuzzKill! (CL 5.0 and below)
- Old Aqueduct : Bug Breakout! (CL 6.0 and below)
- Gold Beach : Trophy Hunters! (CL 7.0 and below)
- Otami Ruins : Saving the Spirits! (CL 8.0 and below)

And every zone also has occasional Orb Spills where Charge Orbs begin appearing for a short period of time, available to anyone that can grab them first. Scramble!

ADDITIONALLY

* The Night Patrol (flying giftboxes) in Bass'ken Lake now spawn twice as often, but you must now also suppress to CL 5.0 or lower to fight them.

* The chapter end-boss encounter has been changed. If everyone in your Crew gets Dazed during the encounter, your unconscious bodies will be moved away from that encounter area. When you recover and return, the fight will begin again from the start. This means that you'll need to fight the tail, body, and head all in one session now. NOTE: Health totals on the EB body parts have been reduced to adjust for the need to do the encounter all in one piece.

* The logic (AI) of the Robofish have been changed. They are a bit faster than they were previously (so they can catch you) and they now have various ways of reacquiring targets, so the tactic of "run through the tunnel" won't work nearly as well as it used to do.

* The logic (AI) of monsters in general that have multiple attacks has been improved so they will change between the attacks on occasion and use them more logically. The upshot of this is that you may see a few attacks that weren't getting used very often, and some monsters may feel a bit different in game (like the Predator Prairie Pups). This is the first in a series of improvements to the AI system that will occur over the next couple of months.

* You must now be CL 7.0 or lower to fight Landshark. Landshark itself is 7.5, and a Boss, so be prepared for a tough fight.

* Ring Buffer and Double-Orb PowerUp durations have been reduced from 60-minutes to 20-minutes. NOTE: We *are* going to compensate Buffer and Double-Orb owners for this change. Details will be announced on Thursday.

* An exploit has been sealed. When a higher-CL player buffs or heals a lower-CL player, the buff/heal is applied at the CL of the target. This prevents veteran players from reducing the difficulty of encounters to ridiculously easy levels, but still allows them to participate/help without suppressing their CL.

* The Papa Saw encounter now requires players to have been involved in the scenario before Mama Saw spawns in order to gain rewards at the end of the encounter.

ALSO NOTE (Auto-Suppression - future feature): We will create an auto-suppression button for players to use when entering a zone where a mini-event is running. This will prevent the need for a trip to the Null Chamber in order to suppress. However, that feature will not be in the initial release of mini-events. It will be in the update *after* the mini-event launch.

-------------------

So what he's saying is, that you pay REAL money for the orb doubler and the polisher, and yet he cuts it down to LESS than half the normal time. Load of BS, huh?

Next up, land shark, what are the level 10s supposed to do now? Land shark was the only thing we had to look forward to over there seeing as they already took dune slam from us!

Now EB, load of crap, huh? Go in, all die all go back to the null have to start ALL over again, go through SS ALL over and fight everything ALL over. It's bad enough it lags like hell down there the first time through. But now they want to send you ALL back to the null just so you can try it again? Got news for them, EB gets old fast!

Lets see, what else. Previous change, the zOMG super chargers and crap people paid REAL money for are soul bound to you like all the other things, thus prohibiting selling and buying in the MP. Which again is a load of bull.

------

Conclusion: Gaia's slowly going to hell. >/

I haven't played ZOMG for long and I know some of the major battles I couldn't have done without leaving someone in there and coming back to finish it from where we all died. The Kokeshi Doll lair especially.

Poor ol' Bruce....he's going to be neutered. crying With that, The Hive will beat him out as far as things to amuse those of us finished with all current areas of the game. Bruce was an icon (talking like he's dead). I guess he still may be for CL 7.0s.

I have one orb doubler and one ring buffer on a mule from way back when she first started playing the game. I'm still waiting to see their compensation to me for cutting the time down by two-thirds. Hmm, what could it be? An Angelic Halo maybe? rolleyes

And, really...sending *every* one back to the Null during the EB if they get dazed? *Why* can't one person stay? What's the harm?

I realize the game is still "beta". Which, in their case, is another way of saying "we can do what we wanna". That pretty much sums it up for all of the changes, I suppose.

I agree and I do not like the changes at all either regarding zomg. The worst one is horrible lag. I wish that would be fixed!!!!

I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it

I never wanted to play zOMG. I think it was something else to take away from the original reason people came to gaia, which was to talk and meet people. Not to play a game.

I know some people like it, but I can't spend the $$ or the time on it.

zOMG? I refuse to play it, on the fact that even on the fastes computer in the house. (Which can run Unreal Tournament 3 at max stats with no problems) It's still slow as hell.

signed not to mention it's just plain retarded and impossible to start out unless you're rich and can buy stuff for it

I gotta say I've enjoyed playing zOMG. And, I've met some super people while playing. I think 2/3 of my friends list are from there. I'm a CL 10 so I'm done with all current areas of the game, but I still like to suppress my CL and crew with others, or as a CL 10, just wander through and buff the newer players. And, I'm looking forward to the next phase of the game.

Those of you who have been here longer might recall when the forums were a fun place. I don't. I can't stand GD or CB. The mods appear to be absent in those areas, and it's a free for all. It's like an out of control romper room. =/

I just started ZOMG on this account and it is totally different. You can't practice, they take you right to barton. Just it SUCKS.

I signed up for being a Zeta, and actually got in. I remember how laggy it was back then, and the gameplay was pretty ******** also. Since they fixed their servers, the lag is not that bad anymore actually, but still bad enough to ruin the fun completely. Like it's really hilarious having a lag for 30 secs, then when it's over, you find yourself dead...

Stopped playing as the rings became soulbound, since that made the prices for the old non soulbound rings explode on the marketplace. zOMG! is a 100% cash game now, which I dislike, and refuse to pay. I still log in now and then, since I'm not CL 10 in any way, but it's so god damn boring to kill the same mobs like 100 times to lvl up, 'cus the quests are not doable either because of lag or missing cash.

Started a whole new game on a mule, and have to agree with iGettinHead. Being send directly to Barton was a bad change, and yet again, the soulbound rings make it not worth playing, since you cannot sell them, and thus the game is far from having anything to do with Gaia itself, other than you use Gaia to pay for stuff you can use in the game... The items you can collect are neat, but buying null fragments to exchange them? Not really...

zOMG! started out as a failure, and will also end as a failure, there are no other options.

I like zOMG... But i hate the CL limits!
CL limits are as naughty as a beetch, and there are a lot of sobs bosses who can't be defeated at their current ******** limit (lawnmower, landshark, kat kokeshi collectible and duneslam are impossible to beat at their current cl limits)
I also hate the ******** soulbound of power ups. I can understand doing it with those beetchy rings... but the powerups...

Every change they made seems to be either making zOMG less fun/more laggy. I mean, how can you shorten the time on ring buffs and all that, when people PAID REAL MONEY for it?! WTF?!

Have to agree with Kadina though, there are actually some super people on zOMG. Too bad the lag kills the experience for everyone.
