Painters paint their pictures
on canvases...
But musicians paint their pictures... On Silence. This is the thing that bothers me the most about Gaia now. Back when I joined, it was a FORUM site. People actually TALKED to each other, and if our avi's wore nothing but a white T-shirt and shorts worth less than 1k...then hey, whatever, we could still talk.
Now there are all these scams, and everything is about gold and cash and bigger and "better" items. Half the people on Gaia have never posted a real post other than a bump before. I did a survey once about if Gaia got rid of gold, and nearly everyone said they would leave.
I hate it because Gaia thinks they are improving, but I think they've lost the original concept of it being a place to talk, and the items and avis were just a bonus. Now...it's ridiculous.
Who here agrees with me?

I do. Gaia has been "Improving they're ways" When really its just a bunch of scams and hacking.Its REALLYannoying to think that its better i liked it back then

i would love it if gaia got rid of gold, the marketplace, and gc. and you could just get items but there has to be some reward for posting and what not or most people wouldnt even talk in forums. and with all the cash they seem to have made there is no way gc is gonna go

I like having an avvie to dress up. I like creating outfits and styles. I also, sometimes, use the market place as a game almost. Buy low and sell high kinda thing. I do agree that this is a forum community. I honestly think zOMG killed that fact. Now people only get accounts to play the game which defeats the purpose of gaia. I am one of the i guess few who comes on this site to talk to others and discuss. I'm and EDer btw, like a hardcore EDer. I would probably leave if they took away my avvie. It represents who I am in gaia and its important to me. I wold be okay with getting rid of gaia cash though....it would save me a lot of money.

I like having avis. I agree with Mei tsuki7 in that it give you something to show of, put a face behind the post kind of thing wink
I don't post much because I'm very introverted and have a had a few bad experiences on forums that have made me afraid to post. But Gaia has be changing that for me little by little. I do post a lot in the Chatterbox thread but that's because I love doing the quizzes mrgreen .
If it did revert back to being forum community I wouldn't be on as much as I am now but I wouldn't give up on it entirely.

One of my friends who is like a vicious gaia player, she only comes for ZOMG and for having the richest avatars, she always asks me to buy her gaia cash cards, just because I live by a place that sells them. While I understand she'll pay me back for them, I hate spending my money on her, simply because the cards only stock up by the places where I live. It's annoying. It would save me money too.
I wish it was more of a forum place. all I do is roleplay, chatterbox it up, and use GD. On occasions I venture to other forums, but that's usually where I am. I do hate Gaia cash though. It bothers me that they made the lucky chest thing too. While it's fun in you have the cash, it isn't fun when you get it, and scramble to get a key, realize you don't have enough money for a cash card, and then watch in sorrow as the chest floats away. It's so dumb. It would be nice if you could get some form of reward for posting on the site. Like forum credits, which would be like gaia cash. Then they wouldn't necessarily have to take down the cash shop, and more people would go to the forums.

I disagree... I think that the avatars are a nice idea. So is gaia gold, and all of the items they make. You get to create your own avatar with your hard-earned gold and even make a dream avatar you can save up for. I joined Gaia about 2 years ago, so I'm not exactly sure how long you mean, but I remember joining and having everyone call me a newb, or whatever. Then I changed my avatar and I sometimes get compliments on it. 3nodding So I do like the option, it gives you a chance to express yourself.

Even so, i was not on gaia in the old days so i won't now, but for some just talking helps people, knowing that some one is listening to you makes people feel better, like to find more people that likes the same thing as you, I'm sure you be happy to now that, they talk about what they like, not like, what they want, how they are today, role playing, and the art and games, but since more and more people go on gaia now the forums has grow.
Their is a good side to everything, since the new gaia their are more better items, but at a cost, so people try to make more forums to get some gold, if their wasn't new items then their be less forums for people to chat and earn gold, and really I'm a fan of avatar art work, so i am happy heir are some, but as i said their to much gold, and it's hard to pick what you like better, new gaia, or the old gaia

Don't get me wrong, I like having avi's too. I'm not saying we should get rid of them, trust me, I love my avi. However, when it's more about avatars and bumping and scamming as compared to talking, that's where I start having a problem.

I totally agree. Ever since the gaia cash shop came along, it's been hard for me to keep an avi awesome, not to mention the rudeness and immaturity in the CB fourms now. It's just awful :/

To be honest, gaia cash doesnt bother me that much. So they have a store that sells stuff for your avvie, as long as they keep updating other shops too im happy. What does bother me is the fact that they have an ENTIRE FEATURE dedicated to it! (aquariums)
I thought that it sounded like a fun little gold sink, just like houses and avatars are. But it turns out its just a giant money sink. its ridiculous.
That and the quality of donation items has, in my opinion, gone down. I have been WAY more excited for evolving items than any of the donation items in forever (sorry, MC's. Whatever.)
And the sponsors. URG. At first I didnt think it was a big deal, but now its just gotten out of hand... Every other announement we get is a sponsor deal! We lack the plot updates and general bug fixes we actually want (re: fixing lag, fixing layering problems, updating the avatar system FOR REAL, not just making it look cooler, and the lack of a steady, regular plot)
