Chapter 2 (they're short chapters)
Liam awoke at 1:26 AM, in his bed, with no one else in it. He sighed, and climbed out of his bed, looking for his car keys. He drove to Ian's house, walked up the front steps, and realized he would wake Rufus up if he just went in. Mentally swearing at himself for not realizing it, he climbed up the tree next to Ian's window. He was surprised to find Ian awake, but not facing the window, so he quickly, quietly, and smoothly opened the window and swung himself through it. He snuck up to Ian, and kissed him on the neck. Ian jumped. Liam smiled and whispered,
"You really should lock your windows. Protect you from things that go bump in the night. What are you drawing?"
Liam picked up the piece of paper in front of Ian. Ian started stammering.
"N-nothing. It's mine."
He grabbed the paper back. Liam frowned.
"Was that... me?"
Ian blushed.
"How did you get in here without waking up Rufus, anyway? He's been pretending to be a 'guard cat'."
Liam raised his eyebrows.
"Let's just hope he doesn't look at the driveway."
Ian facepalmed.
"You parked out front? What if notices you're here?"
"Easy. You called me because you're trying to design a robot and you needed help."
Ian sighed.
"Why did you come here?"
Liam pushed Ian onto the bed and crushed his lips to Ian's, pulling off his sweatshirt, and starting to unbutton Ian's.
*************
When Liam awoke the the next morning, Ian was lying across his chest, breathing slowly. Liam softly traced patterns on Ian's back with his fingers. Ian's eyes slowly opened. He looked up at Liam and smiled. Liam kissed his forehead and said
"Good morning."
Ian started to speak, but the phone rang. He went to pick it up. It was Sasha.
"Good morning Iaan! I missed you! Why haven't you called me yet?"
Ian turned around and mouthed 'Sasha'. Liam fell out of bed and swore, having hit his head on the steel bed frame.
On the phone, Sasha said,
"What was THAT?"
"Um... Rufus again. He has quite a bad attitude in the morning."
"Oh. How is Rufus? Tell him I said hi!"
"I will. I gotta go. Rufus is hungry and he gets antsy if he can't have tuna for breakfast."
"Okay! Byeeee!"
Ian hung up and fell, face down, on the bed.
Liam sat on the bed next to him, rubbing his back.
"You might want to get dressed soon, Ian."
Ian smiled. He got dressed and walked downstairs.
Liam stayed upstairs, just in case Rufus was awake.
He looked at the
picture and smiled. It was him. Ian walked upstairs with a plate of chocolate chip waffles for Liam. He saw him looking at the art, and dropped the plate, which Liam swiftly caught in one hand.
"I like your art. Also, thanks for the waffles. I burned a lot of calories last night."
He winked at Ian, whose face was scarlet. He finally calmed down and said
"I'm glad you like my art. I'm pretty hungry too."
He grabbed a waffle and stuffed it in his mouth.
"Rufus knows you're here."
Liam choked.
"Okay. I'll be right back."
He walked downstairs, where Rufus was waiting for him. Rufus hissed,
"What are you doing here?"
Liam calmly said,
"The Von Helson sisters won't leave my house alone. Once they started to break in, Ian offered to let me sleep on his floor for a few nights."
Rufus cheered up immediately.
"Okay? Say, can you dancey-dancey?"
Liam smiled and swung Rufus around by his paws, while Ian laughed from the hallway.
