"liom" literally means "with me"
So in Irish if you want to say you like something, you say "It is good with me" ("Is maith liom")
It's the same kind of thing that you come across when you want to say you have something, for example, if you have a dog, you say "Tá madra agam." This literally means "A dog is at me".

yeah and if you want to say you like, you say leat, he likes - leis, she likes - lei, we like - linn, you(pl) like - libh, and they like - leo
its the same sorta thing for the "agam" thing:
me - agam
you - agat
him - aige
her - aici
us - againn
you(pl) - agaibh
them - acu

it actually doesnt
'is maith liom' means 'i like'
and 'tá madra agam' means 'i have a dog'

'liom' has more than one meaning

tar liom - come with me
ní maith liom- i dont like

please dont get people confused sweet far thing94
