I don't know if this guild is very active or not, but regardless, I'm super-psyched.
My mother wanted Chinese food tonight, so I drove to pick up a take-out menu. On the menu I discovered a small block of print that said "Vegetarian menu available daily."
Oh?
So when we went to go order the food, I asked for this veg menu.
I about crapped my pants.
They had imitation beef/chicken/PORK. I have no idea if this is normal in a lot of cities, but in mine, it's unheard of. The only veg meal you can get around here is foreign food places, and even then you can't be sure of the sauces they use.
Then I saw another woman and her (about 14 year old?) daughter looking at the veg menu. So I asked her advice on what to get. It turns out her and her family is vegan and absolutely LOVES that restaurant.
Moral of the story: Mock Ham Soup and Pa Bo Ham is the most delicious fast food I've ever had. I've never in my life seen mock-meat in a restaurant.
And I got invited to a vegetarian/vegan potluck that's held monthly within my city that I had no clue of (thanks to the woman in the restaurant.)
So:
What are your best veg discoveries/experiences?
Pleasant surprises talking to strangers?
Anything really. smile
