Alrighty then!
As suggested, I've also been thinking of making a role playing thread for members.
Though, I don't exactly have an idea of how the RP would work,
or what a good start would be.
Possibly just put it in Westeros,
choose a character (or create your own),
and go from there??

I am open for any and all suggestions
or ideas or whatever else!

Eventually, when I've gotten enough ideas from
everyone, I'll put up a poll
and then we can vote on it, hm?
Sound like a plan, leche flan?

I take Sansa Stark as my character! whee
Maybe the story line can be that the characters are in school together. I know it's a very common story line topic, but I think it would be fun to see the characters interact in a school surrounding.

If we wanted to follow the story then we would have to pick a time when it occurs. I like the idea of playing during A Storm of Swords since there is a lot going on.

or taking off after Feast for Crows this way we can make our own ideas of what will happen to the characters after which point.

Okay I've been having an argument with my husband about the Role play of characters in the book. I had him review some of the things I wrote and he said I killed it when I allow people to play as the characters in the book. So I was wondering if the guild would like to play as the characters or if we should make our own.

If you have any suggestions on the Role Play thread PM me or write your ideas on this thread. I've never made a Role play thread so any help is great biggrin

well with RPs like this it would wise to have both canon and original character, but while it would be great to have both and if we do have both the originals should be restricted so that the canon characters can be filled.

I see, I hope it turns out good. Personally I think we need more members to do the rp 3nodding

That is agreed so just get it set up and wait until we get more members that's the only thing I can suggest. I can play multiple character without much trouble, but that doesn't mean ever one else can.

Sorry this took so long, had a hectic week so i couldn't find much time to work on this. -_-
Anyhow onto my formal proposal as to the matter of guild role playing.
Personally i believe we should devote one of the currently unused forum spaces in it's entirety to this.
Everyone has had very interesting ideas as to the direction so far.
The one flaw i can point out within this is that are all within a limited scope so far.
Playing out of storyline with the original characters like the school role play.
Playing out the novels, or playing out how we think a dance with dragons would run.
Playing out original characters within the story lines.
Playing time lines yet to be explored, fall of valyria, conquest of the 7 kingdoms etc.
All of these idea's can be fun and interesting depending, yet each one is singular.
So i ask why not all?
Why can't we play various story's both serious and fun with various characters within various threads?
As argued already no one will likely be able to stay true to the initial characterizations, yet i don't see that it matters.
Martin writes the novels that we enjoy, and as such nothing we do here is going to actually effect the storyline in any way.
We're here to enjoy ourselves and have fun, so even if roles are slightly off or not exceedingly well written as long as all those involved are enjoying themselves i see no reason to object overtly.
Though i believe a few rules/guide lines should be established to prevent confusion and keep things running smoothly.
First off a limit of say only 2-5 role playing threads to run at once.
Each role playing thread should have the topic of play discussed and agree upon within the guild and then have a sign up thread created giving about 1-7 days for players to sign up before closing and beginning the official thread for the game.
I would also say that various game topics that are agreed upon should be logged for future use.
That way as one game/thread closes off another will be ready to begin opening and keep the current number of active games running smoothly.
As to the use of character's.
For the novel characters jon snow, jaime lannister, etc.
I would say that no one may play the same character 2 threads/games in a row, this leaves the slots open for everyone to be able to play there favorites at least once or so.
As for original characters i would think everyone should be allowed to have around 3 or so.
Only one character can be used per thread though, that keep's the same player from being within every story.
Also i think an option to replace characters, as some of them may get killed off during play depending on how it go's.
Though depending on how closely separate games are tied to together, sequels to older ones etc.
And how realistically we wish to play death may or may not be discounted from one game into another i suppose.
Now as to the role play itself, most should likely remain story based, but a had a particular idea of my own i thought might be fun.
Now as i've noticed when posting on gaia there is an action's option which includes picking a random number or rolling various dice.
These could be used to add various uncertainty and an element of surprise to certain factors.
Examples.
Making exacting stat's for characters roll for strength, vitality, intelligence, etc.
And as to in game applications example.
*As you walk along the dark corridors beneath the black cells, your torch flickering weakly against the shadows you feel a small section of stone shift beneath the weight of your left foot.
With growing alarm you hear the sound of stone grating behind you with a hiss of compressed air being released.
You have activated a hidden trap, roll ten ten sided dice, a score of 60 or above will safely let you doge the activated trap.
A score between 40-59 will allow you to doge the trap while being wounded the number of the score before 40 will determine the severity of the injury.
A score of 39 or lower will result in death.
To begin with i believe the first few threads/games should be set along a simple story line to get everyone used to the general aspect of roleplaying.
I have a few scenarios to suggest along those lines, based within settings that are recognizable yet not overtly defined.
That way the back set is easily defined yet there is also a deal of room for improvisation and imagination.

The Grand Tournament.
Set during the time of robert bartheons reign, one of the many grand tournaments he was said to host yet was never clearly defined.
As both the great and small gather within kings landing intrigue sleeps within every shadow.
For each and everyone has come with hopes of claiming a champions title and the large quantity of gold within the champions purse.
Plans are laid and, those of noble valor, those of cunning greed, and those of merciless cruelty begin a competition with a most uncertain outcome.

A Feast For Madness.
Set within the middle of the mad king aerys targaryen's reign.
King aerys has unexpectedly announced a feast with mandatory attendance for those invited.
Could this be just a simple feast, or another of his mad fits, or perhaps something altogether darker?
And no matter which it turns out to be, can you even manage to survive the night?

Merchant Caravans Journey.
Set toward the end of aerys targaryen's reign yet before robert baratheons rebellion.
Departing from the the sands of dorne is a trade caravan laden with various goods and it's road planned to end at lannisport.
While mostly full of at least somewhat honest merchants are there perhaps other unknown hiding among them for a hidden purpose?
And while traveling onward through the sands of dorne and into the various terrains of westeros, what dangers, trials, and deals may await?

Coastal Assault Rise of The Ironborn.
Set 6 years after robert baratheon overthrew aerys targaryen and became king.
During the beginning day's of balon greyjoys uprising and crowning of himself as the king of the iron isles.
The ironborn have risen and as there longships set sail to war, the north shall be set upon unprepared.
In the first strike a number of ironborn longships have began an assault upon a medium sized fishing village sworn to whiteharbor.
Will the villagers be able to throw back the iron tide or even stem it's flow until help can arrive?
Or will the ironborn claim there first victory and paint the ground red with the blood of the north?

And that's basically what i've thought up so far hope that helps.

Anth, I like your ideas.
I think Love is working on a RP sub forum, last I saw.
Having only so many threads can help keep concentrations of a story
and players focused on one or two things at a time.
I'll look more into the sub forum and see what's what.

Thank you for your input!

Daaaamn, anth. You went all out. I approve! Sounds like some really good ideas. But I must reiterate...as a massive jaime fan...I want him first xD

I don't think it's a good idea to play the characters from the novel either, first and foremost because we won't get them exactly right. I think we should have them in the story (it would be impossible not to, if it took place after A Feast For Crows) just not being played by others (directly). We can easily make characters that become important as the story progresses.

That being said I call dibbs on Rhaegar Targaryen, as an undead warrior. wink
