I saw TomatoMOOSH's signature and remembered ^^' Some people take Twilight too seriously, though: there was a story on the news about a girl who was beaten up because she said she didn't like it, and six other girls hit her with a hardback edition of New Moon until she said she did. <.< Stephanie Meyer's writing just doesn't appeal to me.

Just a warning, I know of the whole "war" that's going on with the Twilight series and if this topic gets out of hand, as in a war starts out with nasty comments and such, I will delete and ban the topic, hopefully I wont have to ban people too.
Personally I don't care for the series. Stephanie Meyer's depiction of vampires doesn't follow any of the myths and legends about vampires. Call me old fashion, but vampires are NOT suppose to see their reflection, take pictures of themselves, sparkle (go out in the daytime), or b***h about drinking blood of any kind.
To me those aren't vampires or anything close.
You want a real monster/horror creature to like? Zombies. Can never go wrong with zombies.
Though, I'm just saying that I don't like the series because I like the real vampires in old HORROR movies and not this new... version(?). I grew up old school. Doesn't mean that I give a s**t if other people like it. It's just not for me and my taste (lolpun).
If you want a true book to read that has vampires in it that ALSO takes a scientific explanation to them, read I Am Legend. DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE. The movie doesn't come anywhere NEAR the amazing-ness that is I Am Legend.
If you would like an ebook of it, I have it in a DOC file (which I can turn into a .rtf file if needed) if you would like me to upload it for you to read. Just ask. It's not that long of a read and is an amazing alternation between science and vampires.

The crazy fans are the worst. The ones that just can't accept that some people have different tastes.
I can really see why it's so popular though, it plays on every teenage girl's fantasy of having a perfect guy that will watch over them and literally spend eternity loving them. I'd love to have a guy like that, but I'm not desperate enough to find that man in a character in a book.
Rapey's right, zombies are pretty macabre. They can never be romanticized, they'll always be disgusting monsters that will eat you if you get too close. I guess that's why I'm scared shitless of them. xD

I'm not one of those crazed fans. I'm the kind of fan that makes parodies, laughs at it, and still likes the BOOK, but not the movie.

Mizzy Jagger I can really see why it's so popular though, it plays on every teenage girl's fantasy of having a perfect guy that will watch over them and literally spend eternity loving them. You mean... eating them. I see your point, actually, now. Mrs. Paper, I'd love to read it! I haven't really read many stories about vampires, zombies etc., only a couple of Anne Rice books.

I attempted to read Twilight and wanted to commit suicide after 50 pages. =o= I don't care if people like Twilight, as long as they don't shovel it down my throat. My "friends" kept doing that so now I purposely make fun of Twilight to make them as angry as I was at the fact that they tried to force me to like that garbage.
I know everyone has their own perception when it comes to vampires, but some things you just shouldn't change. Like burning in the sun. There is a reason they burn: They are unholy creatures that cannot be in holy light. Thus they burn (mm....bacon....). That is something that really irritated me about Twilight.
I promise I will not attack people who like it. That is, as long as I don't get like 500 pms that look like this:
"OMG U LYK SUCK CUZ TWYLYGT IZ THE BEST N STUF N EDWERD IZ TTLY HAWT! <<<<<<<3)"
So yeah. That is my 2 cents. Please just don't spam me. =o=
