It has come to my attention that there is a rather interesing rumor floating around: Baby Aegon never died. I'm busy IRL, so much of my evidence is coming from TOH, but bear with me here.
At first glance, no way in hell could this be. Baby Aegon (BA) got his head splatered against the wall; brains everywhere. It even mentions during the Moutain That Ride's rape of Elia that "blood and brains" stained his hands.
It's been rumored that somehow BA was smuggled out of the city and the child killed by Gregor was just some peasent. The problem with the above theory is that there is not direct evidence, unlike several other sub story arcs. However, GRMM has made some...tantalizing letters. They'll been known as "So Says Martin," or SSM.
Note that GRMM neither confirms, nor denies the exists of BA. It could mean everything and nothing. But even if BA was still alive, he would be about thirteen or so at the opening of AGOT. Could we have met him?
If so, who do you think it is? My personal theory is that it is Garith the Darkstar, from AFFC, one of Arinne's companions. Thoughts? Feelings? Other suspects? Is Izzy just mad? ^.^
