So. These FIE visor masks.. Just out of curiosity I wanted to know what other sabreurs (& fencers, generally) think of them.

I'm undecided as to whether I like them or not... I'm not going to acheive international level & have to get one anytime soon (or ever, really). Plus at £275.16 they're so very expensive. I'm told they make the match more exciting for spectators & they also reduce your target area by a small amount (which is fair if both opponents are using one, I suppose).

What do you guys thing about them. Any strong opinions one way or the other? Do any of you own one?

I hadn't thought about making it less mysterious. It might give one fencer a phychological advantage over the other, too.

& it's a shame you can't hit to their face. & if those visors get scratched they're very expensive to replace.
