User ImageDo you let your kids read Twilight at the age of 12? why or why not?

That would depend on the maturity of my child. If she can handle a good vampire movie I see nothing wrong with a book. Twilights kinda like a kiddy vamp story anyway

I kinda hate twilight though, I think the whole story is flawed and immature like somthing you'd find on disney channel (Hannah montana or wizards of wazerly place) It promotes to many things I'd have issues with if my daughter picked them up. Like trying to kill her self if some guy she hardly knew left her..Kinda like a vampire romeo and juliet.

I think there is more mature fiction out there but if shes grownup enough go for it. If you'd like to know some amzing teen fiction I've read latly let me know and I'll post up on them ^_^

I would love a list of them! We decided to read it together. My 14 yr old and my 12 yr old and I. It is kind of fun. We read the Narnia series last year that way. We lay on my bed and each take turns with the book and read out loud. i think the appeal is the popularity of this book. sometimes you need like things to discuss with other kids.

Kingom Keepers - A disney story about kids who become hollwgrams the magic kingdom at night when all the charaters come to life 4/5

The Book Theif - Its the story of a young german girl durning WW2 and how her life is effected when her grandfather refuses to support the Nazi uprising 5/5

Dragon Rider - A young Boy finds a Dragon and goes on a adventure to find the other dragons 4/5

Lost years of merlin - Merlin finds himself trapped in another world with a young girl trying to fight a god. 4/5

I'm a crazy avid reader and I would recommend

- The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix

- His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman

-The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

All books that I have really enjoyed myself and would totally let my son read when he's 12 and would read to him even earlier.
