My name is Duskcrawler of The Nocturnes. The year is 2009, and the world has become doomed with nations threating to launch a nuclear apocalypse and superheroes have been banned from the world. Only a few remain and some have died. Just a few nights ago, the Counselor was murdered by a demon named Apep. I managed to get my teammates, Nocturnal Titan, Behemoth of the Night, Sweet Revenge, and Ramesses the Impaler, back to crimefighting, but we aren't enough to save the world. Will you help us? All heroes and all villains allowed.

The Counselor, a legendary superhero since the late 40's, sat in his couch watching the tube. He heard a knock and answered.
"Hello," he said.
"Hello, Counselor," a deep voice said. The Counselor stepped back from his guest. For the guest was a burglar in all black with a mask concealing his entire head. He said,
"Joshua Higgins, it's time for you to meet your maker." The Counselor punched him and missed. The burglar tripped him and shoved him up against a wall. The Counselor hit him but the burglar grabbed his fist and shoved and threw him down the balcony.
"Loose ends have to be tied up."

Duskcrawler walked down the alleyway and heard about Joshua Higgins dying. He walked over to his apartment and teleported up there. He investigated the building finding a hidden closet. To his shock, he discovered that Joshua Higgins was the Counselor. He teleported down the alleyway and tried to deduce the murderer.

As he thought to himself, he began to believe that the murderer was of above human condition or possibly, a supernatural being like himslf. He walked down the alleyway, noticing a burglar breaking in. He started to feel rage burn inside him and he teleported into the building.
"So, criminal, why burglarize this place?"
"Y-y-y-you!"
"Yes, me." Duskcrawler manipulated some shadows into a shotgun and fired his gun. He knew it wasn't the murderer, but, for now, burglary reminded him of the Counselor's death.

While Duskcrawler walked around, he began to try and deduce whatever happened to the Counselor. Nothing clicked in his mind. In order to make himself think better, he walked over to his old teammate's, Behemoth of the Night, house. He phased through the door and sat down in a chair and ate some burritoes.
