Light Yagami understood the primitive nature of men. They were always tempted by greed and those not strong enough found themselves at the other end of justice. They allowed improper judgement based upon uncontrollable emotions to dictate actions. An individual could kill due to lust or fear governed by a greed. Greed over a lost lover or fear from the repucusions of some mistake. Light was unlike these many individuals. He was governed by a higher intellect. He allowed his brain to not be influenced by those primitive natures within men and used it instead to properly analyze situations. He understood his path to be one who would bring justice upon those who acted upon primitive intuitions. He was not first in his class for nothing and had shown his ability to perform justice by helping his father, a current leading justice figure in Japan, solve crimes. His path was clear and righteous, he thought as he sat impatiently in his Daikaigou Academy class.

As the bell rang Light picked up all his belongings and a slow exit out of the class room. This was due to the number of students beginning conversation on their subsequent education since graduation was approaching. Light's path was clearly obvious as the top in his class. He would attend To_OH University, the top in the country. In a few months time he would be another step closer to achieving his goal of being able to bring forth justice that was greatly needed in the cities.

After much small talk he finally managed to end the conversations and exit the classroom. Much of the students had already left by the time he found himself outside. Walking across the grass he couldn't help but notice a notebook laying on the grass. In english "Death Note" the title bore. Interested he opened up the first page which was had steps listed on how to use. He read over the rules and couldn't help but chuckle. "The human whose name is written in this book shall die." Quite intrigued by the book he took it with him on his way home. Sitting at his desk in his room he read all the other rules and was quite impressed by the effort put in it. He placed the book in his desk after an hour and shut his eyes.

A week had passed and the death note had been constantly on his mind. The conception was quite interesting. Just by writing someones name they would die? He couldn't warp his head over the full extent of the idea when all of sudden a figure approached from behind.

(I believe this should be when I meet the Shinigami)

His awareness jumped to a whole new level upon hearing the voice. As he turned around floating before him was girl. This wasn't a typical girl as her skin was pale to extent that she seemed to be a shell lacking substance. Her clothing depicted darkness with a skull attachment going around her neck. He hesitated for a moment in obvious shock as the sweat beads slowly dripped down his forehead causing a stinging sensation as some entered his eyes.

"What the hell are you?"

Thinking at this point wasn't easy due to the sudden surprise but he managed to realize that this being had a direct link with the book he had found.
