It's lengthy but well worth reading!

Read some of it, 'cus I don't play it anymore, but wanted to know what he had on his mind. And he's so right about everything. zOMG! is no fun at all playing alone, and even when you find a group, 3 of them will be idiots, making it even worse to play.

It is SO totally true. Solo players are getting totally NERF'ed by each and every update, and the event CL caps are plain silly. I'm not sure but I think not even WoW does that (though IIRC, there was something about minimum levels somewhere once).

I used to play RO too, for several years till my poor server finally went under. Also never had any soloing problems (and mind you, that's something worth saying when I can solo a priestess - for those who don't play RO, suffice to say priestesses are more support than anything - up to "rebirth" and a "high" character). While on the subject of RO, I've seen sufficiently high-level people soloing some of the hardest bosses ingame. That's something I've never seen here (or heard about, since most/all? boss fights aren't open to public viewing anyway).

Promoting crewing/grouping/whatever you want to call it is a good thing, but screwing people who just want to play alone is stupid. Worse when the MMO in question is supposed to be casual, and doubly worse when its hard to have a crew without...lets just say "challenging" people.

As for the CL caps, those for random events do make much much sense but those for bosses/night patrol are just silly. I mean, the whole point of being powerful/high-level is to get out there and save newbs (note: newbs, NOT noobs). Preventing that is plain silly, and detrimental to the entire MMO experience.

"challenging"...hehehe. rofl

The only thing I do (have done for many months) is buff newbies. I totally enjoy helping newer players. I just wish I didn't feel so bored with playing the game in general. The "play in a full crew or die in SS" mind set pisses me off. I used to enjoy going to SS with just 1 or 2 other players from my friend list. I swear, a 1/2 hour was wasted one evening just trying to locate enough *capable* folks who wanted to play. Since then, I've not set foot in SS, and thats been over 2 months ago.

Seems a bit dictatorial for Quix to make the game where a single player is unable to get anywhere. =/

To be fair, that's not totally true. Mentioned elsewhere, but I have a CL 1 on my other account that has access to all the null crystals. Didn't need any escort on the way either (just a bit of luck e.g. walking through Boardwalk after someone just cleared the Anchor Bugs).

But then, as also already stated, there's GETTING somewhere, then there's DOING something. Single players are only getting the...erm..."getting" part (dang pun was so not intended)

Hm, I'm probably odd because I'm totally in love with crewing. I just think that it's fantastic for a change to have a game where the people helping you out are actual people who can think rather than pre-programed NPCs who don't do anything. Whenever I solo, I never really have trouble doing whatever it is I'm after though. That's just me though. sweatdrop

And on an off-topic note, I just got 1,511 gold from two booty grabs in here. eek

I played it for a bit, but I was really discouraged by the fact that it's near impossible to finish anything alone; I can't even beat the OMGWTF at max allowed CL for Dead Man's Pass on Easy by myself, and half the people I pair up with spend more time asking for gold than contributing to a crew.

I think they should add an option to hire NPC crewmembers (With Gold, not Cash - we need more gold sinks badly) for people who prefer to play alone.

Now that you mention it...neither could I. I actually went back to support a noob party, ended up letting them run distraction whenever I needed to rest - back to the issue of solo players simply not being able to handle all the boss fights.

As for henchmen, its a toughie to do. Will put a lot more strain on the server for one, and henchmen are kinda complex to implement - think the Diablo 2 henchmen that totally sucked.

I got on the zOMG boat pretty late, when there were already many many CL10s running around. Even then (the tutorial subway train quest was still around when I started though) it was still do-able for a solo. But the boss fights were already nigh impossible. I had to do every bossfight with either a crew or some random person helping, all the way from the fight with the gnome general to DMP, Kat's doll, wolf, you name it. Even now, can't get past gauntlet without a crew supporting.

I'm willing to assist in zomg almost anytime, Hanaze. And, I bet if we ask *really* nicely, f0olz might help too. biggrin

May be just me, but the zeta part seems to go for every MMO where I got to play on either side of testing.

Stamina/HP recovery that you can buy for Gold, then. This is the first MMO I've played in which recovery items are Cash Shop items as opposed to dime-a-dozen NPC store items, and personally I think the idea is preposterous.
