The other day, watching my platoon sergeant and a specialist in the unit practice boxing, I was talking to one of my sergeants and was saying how easily each of their attacks was countered. Well, after thinking a bit on how to counter each and every attack, I then turned that single counter or evasion or block into a full fledged technique in my mind, Every block, counter, and evasion branching off into leaving the opponent on the ground, hitting a vital, breaking or otherwise maiming a limb, to even getting a stranglehold or a position to crack the opponent's neck. After over a year of puzzling how to integrate so many different styles into one [more] perfect[ed] style, I finally had my epiphany, a major breakthrough in Technique. As we all know, When it comes to who will win in a fight, it boils down to Speed, Flexibiliy, Endurance, Strength, Agility, Technique/Knowledge, and Willpower.
this thread is to discuss all your breakthroughs, in your training. did you just master a kata? Maybe you perfected how to throw a punch with ten times the force with half the effort? Maybe you discovered how to integrate the principles with the one-inch-punch into every attack/counter. Discuss openly, let us share the knowledge.
