The first step to getting a profile approved is to create a thread in the New Character Profiles forum. It would be wise to read all stickies in that area, in order to get a feel for what the moderators are expecting, and be sure to fill out every section of the profile form. Ask friends or other players for critiques; the moderators will try to put some of their own into the thread, but don't be afraid to go to other people, instead!
Once you've decided on the final version of your profiles, all edits done, add a [REVIEW] tag to the title of your post. The moderators will reply by posting one of the following stamps:
When this is added to a topic, it will be moved to the Approved Characters forum.
OR
Moderators will offer critique, if they think there is still something to be fixed.
When you receive this stamp, please remove the [REVIEW] tag from the topic of your profile. The moderators will try to add some critiques/jumping off points when they post this stamp, so that you can address major issues, get more critiques, and then add the [REVIEW] tag again.
