Basic RP RulesNo meta-gaming - Make sure that what you know and what your character knows are separate entities. You may have read a character's profile, but your character has not. Use only what you have learned through RP.
No god-moding - When a fight breaks out, or another kind of conflict, you have two options. The first is to decide amongst yourselves, via PM or OOC comments or in the main thread, who will come out the victors. The second is to contact one of the moderators and request that they decide for you. Moderators will privately roll dice and adjust those rolls according to character experience.
Keep it PG-13 - Gaia's ToS requires all threads on the forums, in guilds, or PMs to be PG-13. This means that any violence should be written in relatively tame terms, and all sex must Fade to Black before it hits the juicy bits.

Post Formatting
When you're posting in the RP areas, there are a few simple formatting rules that are important to follow so that everyone understands what you want and what you mean.
Title Tags
In the title of a new topic, you should always include some simple tags to inform or warn people about your post.
Required Tags
[OPEN] or [O] - the thread is open to anyone who wishes to enter and join you in RP.
[CLOSED] or [C] - the thread is only open to people who have been specifically invited in.
[LIT] - the thread is not open to anyone, and is a solo-RP written by one person.
[CHARACTER NAMES] - it's always wise to include a list of characters in a specific thread.
[LOCK] - when all participants have left the thread, add this tag to the original title to have the topic locked. Inactive topics will be locked after ten days.
Optional Tags
[QUICK] or [Q] - people in this thread are expected to reply swiftly, posting on an active basis, perhaps several times a day.
[AVERAGE] or [A] - a more casual style of play, this sort of thread may update once a day or every other day.
[SLOW] or - this thread may only be updated once every few days, or even once a week.
Actions Formatting
All RP posts should be formatted in a storybook style, third person past tense. Regular text is the action, with the dialogue in quotations and any thoughts in italics. Any out of character comments should be marked with clearly recognizable boundaries, such as double parentheses.
This is an action, "And this is what people say!" But actually, this is what she's thinking while she says it. ((And this is an out of character comment.))
