and then I have to unlist and relist my item just to sell before the price drops so I can get more or less the exact same price I paid, dealing with consequent 1-to-10-gold underpricers every step of the way.

I wish there was a 'Change Price' option so I didn't have to, or the MP could show older listings first when the price difference is less than 0.5%. This has been a problem since the '06 MP and it's one of my biggest pet peeves on Gaia.

Sure, it's annoying as hell, but there's nothing we can do really. The old MP was better in many ways, but I guess they changed it for the easier use and whatnot, I mean we have some nice statistics now.

I usually put my auctions up for 24 hours, and do not bother taking them down again if someone offers the same items cheaper. I just hope the others sell before mine are expiring, and usually they do. So I get to sell it at my price anyway, or else I put it up again 24 hours later.

I used to do things that way until I lost 200k on a random deflation. Now I always have to sell first, just to be safe. sweatdrop I never undercut people by less than 50-100g to even several thousand if it's a pricy item, so it really hurts my profit when I have to go up against vendors with less class. I just wish the Internet had a little more common courtesy.

Now I always have to sell first, just to be safe. sweatdrop I never undercut people by less than 50-100g to even several thousand if it's a pricy item, so it really hurts my profit when I have to go up against vendors with less class. I just wish the Internet had a little more common courtesy.

Economists will tell you that this is the wonder of a free market at work. Of course, a free market is theoretically impossible and what we have here is a sham propelled by people with the economic know-how of the global finance system and the common courtesy of a...really rude person.
The marketplace system on any virtual site is sure to be impossibly broken. It just so happens that Gaia's MP happens to highlight a whole basket (yay economic references) of other problems around the site and user base (by which I mean anyone not reading this of course biggrin )
