We can't get married because obviously the Christian god, who has been conviently silent for the last 2000 years, says to his followers that they are to protect the earth from heathen invaders, and ever since they took it upon themselves to go about recreating like rabbits and strutting like peacocks, lording it over the rest of the entire WORLD that they are going to an imaginary place called 'Heaven' when they die because they are good and righteous people who protect god's creation from the evils of 'Satan'.
I apologize to rabbits and peacocks of the world for this unfair comparison.

Lesbians can get married in the US.
*sighs* I get annoyed when people don't know their facts. Luna, you can get married and that is not a reason behind why you "cannot get married." It doesn't deal with religion and is not specific to Christians only.

O do you mean we can marry, as long as we're not sexually interested in the person we marry? Tho a 9th Circuit judge ruled it unconstitutional, the Supreme Court has not agreed with him.

Nobody specified legal marriage, nor did anybody specify that it was a marriage between two lesbians that are "legally female." And two women can marry each other on a state level in a few states. Edit to add: I also know of a few lesbian identified women that have fallen for guys.

its based off a judgment of Christianity, they say that the bible is correct so if anyone of the homosexual nature wishes to get married its not legal under the rights of holy sanctum. according to most Christians, gay marriage will destroy the sanctity of anything that would be looked upon as 'natural' to your stereotypical Christian. If you do research among the Christian community you will find that they say that its a fine reason to take away another persons rights when they obviously dont understand that we too are people and we should be allowed the same rights, you ever wonder why people are being caught by there spouses and then forced into a divorce because there husband or wife realize they have been married to a gay person for years. seriously until the church and the state actually become TWO separate branches over the just one based over religious views, we are doomed to move to one of the...what five states that actually have legalized gay marriage and im not talking about that oh its a legal contract that should be the same thing no an actual marriage, including the church and all that happy happy stuff. until its found as a good thing by Christians well we are doomed to sit back in the dark as the hierarchy trouble us into fear and all that s**t...

I apologize, Zero Fail, for being rude.
My adopted parents follow the Christian mindset, and so I'm used to the reasonings why we cannot have 'gay marriage' in our state from their perspective. So, those are the facts I know.

It's no big deal, but I am Catholic (a form of Christianity) and I happen to know a lot of Christians that are okay with gay marriage. I also know of some athiests that are not okay with gay people at all. People (from what I've seen) blame religion quickly because it's the easiest thing to do, but it's not entirely right. There are many Christan sects that embrace homosexuality. There's even a sect of Islam that is okay with people with sexual orientations that aren't straight.
There's even a lot of non-religious gay people that do not support gay marriage.

certain states do allow you to get married but why other states use religion as a bias for why we can't is against our rights. the whole seperation of church and state. state should not use the church as a reason because of that act. and in the bible that ive read gay marriage i not apposed it just says a man may not rape a boy and a woman may not rape a girl. nothing about marriage, unless im missing something that hasn't been pointed out to me.

In the UK, same sex couples can get a Civil Partnership. its basicly the same as Marriage, but with some rights taken away. i dont know what those rights are, but i can live with that.

Legal marriage, in my opinion, is bullsh*t anyway. Have a ceremony and invite all of your accepting friends and family. Hire a preacher... or elvis... or just say the vows yourself. Who needs a piece of paper to prove they're in love... Yeah, financially, things are different, health insurance and divorce etc. But if you are married in your heart, thats more valid than a certificate.
