MonkoftheRealm I'm for the death penalty and all...but should we really glory in someone's execution? wow...you got lefted by monkoftherealm...you guys suck. On a lighter note: i ddint follow the story, and I fail to see how its a big issue. yes, i'm against the death penalty, bu there's enough people put to death that are innocent in the first place for me to get bitchy about a "changed" man

Yes, we upheld justice. Yes, we've prevented another murderer from committing the same acts again. I know that. He should have been executed, of course, but when we use phrases like the illegitimate child is finally dead, isn't that taking it too far? We have taken someones life, and no matter how justified we were in taking it, I still think it is wrong to have great joy in executions. Capital Punishment is a necessary evil in our society, but it should be approached cautiously and a degree of reluctance. This reaction displays a violation of both caution and reluctance.

Tookie may have reformed. He may not have. But the fact of the matter is that he had written numerous anti-gang books for children. In California, this is important. Gangs are rampant there, children exposed to violence and such at extremely young ages. Perhaps an alternative to death would have been life in prison, where he could keep giving back to society and children, teaching them the wrongs of gangs. On the other hand, his death may have served as a symbol as to what happens to those who commit heinous crimes. the decision is up to you and your morals.

He'd probably gotten more people into gang life then he had gotten out.
