So...I was going to post this a while back but ended up not doing it however I think I will now. =3
This isn't really a rant, just a friendly request really.
Back when the RP started, I was a little frustrated that within the first fifteen pages, nearly everyone who met Angela had managed to somehow magically learn her life long secret. Only ONE of those people had the knowledge and experience to figure it out on his own and she actually had to specifically confirm his suspicions.
One character blurted it out in front of several others --for the record, before your character blurts out secrets they learned psychically, ASK the other players. I have a very psychic character in another RP (she'll be appearing here too) and trust me, there's a line you have to walk to keep your character from knowing too much and being annoying. Blurting out secrets without permission falls into the annoying category. It's okay to ask "Can my character know X? And can my character blurt out X in front of other characters?" In fact...it's far more courteous.
One character simply believed what a random girl she didn't know said about a random stranger she didn't know...without really even questioning the veracity of the claim.
One character managed to sneak up and overhear a sensitive conversation between two people who probably would have been a bit more wary of their surroundings considering their respective backgrounds and situations.
Which kind of brings me to my other request--can we all stop assuming other characters are so unobservant that they are:
1. Easy to trail without noticing AT ALL that they have someone shadowing them and 2. Easy to sneak up upon so as to hear sensitive conversations.
First of all...it's a bit irritating for people to assume this about other peoples' characters--I don't know about you guys but I think pirates, fugitives and people with secrets are a bit more observant than that. People usually like to think of their characters as reasonably competent...rather than the sorts who can be easily spied on by children without their knowledge. ^_^;
It's one thing to do it here and there but honestly if you're constantly sneaking around after people, over hearing things, spying and the like, you may consider that this could be thought of as a bit rude by people who'd like their characters to be....more observant or who would like their characters to keep their secrets a bit longer.
Unless you have a super awesome assassin ninja--otherwise....yeah. Please consider giving people a chance to notice your character is trailing them.
