So I got Windows 7... and, I gotta say, I wasn't all that impressed right off the bat. My friend was telling me how it's super awesome and it's like Vista but without any problems.

Here's the thing: I've never HAD a problem with Vista. It never froze, gave me a BSoD, etc.

Windows 7? First day, 4 complete lockups. Had to do a hard shut down just to get my computer to work again, each time. Now, it was doing those shutdowns during a time when I was downloading and installing all the extra language packs, so that could be it... But still, that never happened on Vista.

As it stands, I'm still getting used to the way it clumps together task bar icons and such. Other than that, it's pretty much the same to me, so far.

Yeah, Vista hasn't had any problems for me either, but I got Vista like around when Windows 7 Beta was being released. Meaning Vista was around enough for some of the major bugs and stuff to get patched up and fixed. As for Windows 7, it's still fairly new, isn't it? Things probably haven't been completely debugged yet or something, and as new patches fixes things up or something, I'm sure it'll be as good, and hopefully better than Vista is now.

Pugyuu is still a Vista, but Vicki's mom just got a new laptop with Windows 7. It looks pretty nice, and it hasn't given her any real, major issues with the OS so far, I don't think.

I hated the eye-candy. Reduced all that memory footprint by making everything look like XP (Windows Classic... aka Windows 9 cool again (skinny start bar, quick launch icons, animations, etc).

As a result, no more crashes.

Well, from my understanding it's less intensive on ram and apparently has a much bigger impact on the HDD. My friend was saying that could be the reason it was just locking up, since my HDD may be worn out or something.
