Yes, another one.
Back in the day in 05 when I was first on this site and perhaps many of you too. Remember how you could make screen names with letters, numbers, symbols and have practically any name you wanted? Even if that name was "SUPERAIDSCARRYINGFLAMINGCONDOMOFDOOM!!"
Alright, maybe not that long, but you get my point.
I tried making a mule for a friend who said they were having issues the other night making a name, every name they tried told them it was PG-13 violation. We thought perhaps it was a glitch, so I went over, tried both pages for making a mule account for them, using html and the flash page, still got the same thing myself, and when I tried something simple and stupid to test the fact "Help" was the screen name I put in after 76237125643972567 tries to make a name for them, they said the name was taken, which I figured.
However found out it wasn't a glitch as we had thought this way. No, it is truly gaia limiting the creative freedom of users even more.
What happened to the good ol' days when making a screen name with the words "genital warts" "herpes" and other such words were a-ok?
What happened to the days when you could have a name, similar to that of another user. I know for a fact when I made this name there was already a user in 05 with the name Toushin Yusuke, seeing as Gaia told me so, but by removing the space, making it all one word, I got the name I wanted with out adding extra s**t to the name that would be pointless?
I realize why they took the symbols out, because the people with "." in their names couldn't talk in towns, the word bubbles didn't pop up for them. And Gaia being as "loving" as they are, "fixed" this issue for us by banning the use of symbols because in the future you wouldn't be able to log into such "cool" features such as GIM. (I'm heart broken, honestly. Look at me weep.) I had always thought they should keep these in for the users and just put a nice big warning all over the place as they're fond of doing anyway that some features would not be accessible to those users.
But they didn't stop there, no. they wanted to make Gaia even more safe to use, so they banned the use of some of the spaces, but users bitched, and we gained them back. However they only turned around at a later point in time and made it to where any of their lame NPCs had a name in use, you couldn't have a name with that word in it.
Example: For those of you that know Final Fantasy 7. The character Rufus Shinra, a popular evil little s**t and the president of a major corporation and one of the badguys in the game. But after the NPC rule, you could not have the word RUFUS in your name. Why? Thank the talking cat that goes "woof" (reference to an old past manga).
How about Louie? Its a general name and there are characters with this name that pop up from time to time all over. Anime, literature...etc. Maybe someone's IRL name. But can you have it in YOUR Gaia name? NO! Because there's an NPC by this name. And now that they added Sam to the mix, does that also block that word too now? I'm sure it does, an even more widely used name.
I'm sorry, but if people are too a** retarded to realize they have colored names in place with the [NPC] there before the name for a reason with a special ava unlike those seen for normal everyday bases...then perhaps they deserve to be scammed and their accounts taken away. >/

In short, Gaia's banned everything in the dictionary from a** to v****a (couldn't think of any z words XB) with name creation, limited the users creative freedom, even heard rumors they're trying to look out for user names anyone deems questionable ( <^>@Gaia).
They're now forcing s**t on us alot of us don't want, and as said in alot of cases around the guild and site, not listening to the userbase.
The borg collective hive mind anyone?

(Or banned, warned, or pitifully mocked by all the mods, devs, users, threads, names that you can not have/ do/ otherwise...etc)

What are they gonna do about the current non-PG13 names still here...if anything? Hmm...guess my old screen name would be deemed unacceptable now.

Stupid s**t indeed reminded me of more stupid s**t. Gaia's fired me up on a ranting role this morning. I swear it's not just because I like hearing myself rant. =O (Alright, maybe that's half the case...but still!)
What are they going to do about those? Probably nothing over all, I've only heard rumors, but nothing to base it on. So far the names I have have all been just fine...well...inappropriately fine.
Just been keeping a low profile on them, sticking to my guilds.
Your old name probably would be. >/
But the way I see it, if the GD, ED, Lifestyles can talk about:
WHY THE ******** CAN'T MY NAME BE "a** SNARFING?!" Symbols and all, damnit. >/
Since after 05 people have been more open IRL (younger generations screwing around) so why is it gaia is going backwards. Instead of being more open, they're closing up...in all aspects.

Reeks of a cheap fix to me. Also, Gaia's clamming up and clamping down as (another) cheap protection against legal liability. Way I see it, if anything DOES happen, they can just say "but we already did our best to prevent it"
Which is kind of good I guess...Craig is facing so much moral liability already that he's already dammed (apologies to those with religions against the whole concepts/no religions).

Bull s**t. That's what I have to say. Gaia's PG13. And with half those topics and with the way the world is today, there was nothing wrong with the way the site was back in 05. D< So is my outspoken opinion. No offense or anything, don't want you to get the wrong idea, just pissed at Gaia. If they're so damn worried about s**t, go crack down on those cleavage signs I mentioned in another topic here in the guild some where. D<

EDIT: Tried to change one of my mules to the name s**t SACK and it said that it could not be done.

They're stopping everything. As I said anything at all in the dictionary that could POSSIBLY be looked at wrong...its all against PG13 now. D<
