So I've been so fed up recently with Gaia that I've mostly stopped coming on here. I've found a new, much better site. It's small and the admins, mods and artists actually interact and care about the users. It's called Solia Online. I've now seen what an avatar community should be which makes me not want to come on here anymore. I've already donated over $550 to Solia and I feel no shame because I want to help the site keep running. That's a big difference from here where I used to cringe every time I gave Gaia more money. Another good thing about Solia is they have no ads. They don't need them because the users care enough about the site to donate a lot which keeps the site running no problem. They also *gasp* actually update gold items, called commons, and they're actually good items. If any of you want a new, small, nice community filled with intelligent users and mostly no spamming or hacking come to Solia. It's fantastic.
So enough about Solia. As I was saying in the beginning I've stopped coming on here at all. My avatar has stayed the same since December, which is different for me, and I haven't spent any money on GC since that month as well. I'm just sick of the immaturity, the mods and the stupidity here of the majority of users and staff. I only come on now because I run the Extended Discussion Reg Guild and I need to make sure it's running smoothly. It's just not worth it anymore. /rant

I've heard of Solia Online. Seen it over on Tektek.
And while it might be a good site, and you've found a nice niche over there... For better or for worse I'm sticking with Gaia. Even if I need to c**t punt them a few times to get their heads on right. Fact is, I like the people here, and over all, I like the avatars and the way the base user things are set up. (The clothes, profiles, the one off switches we are allowed to have.) Things like that. While Gaia can be a bunch of flaming douche bags alot of the time, the other sites I've tried in the past just don't compare.

It's understandable that you want to stick with Gaia especially since you like the bases a lot. The bases do make a difference. Such as the fact that I love the Solia bases which influences me to stay there. I just can't see Gaia getting any better any more. I don't see any chance of improvement. I don't see them listening to the users anymore at all but that's just me. Gaia is a Corporation now not a Community.

You're right. But the thing Gaia has that most dont is a little more creative freedom. I can't say I've been to Solia, but I doubt it has all the things Gaia does. Males sort of get the crap end of the deal for clothes on most other sites. And I'd miss customizing profiles and the forums here. As well as the friends.
You have a point though about the corporation, but the way I see it, if Gaia pisses their users off too much, to the point that just ranting in the forums isn't enough but is perhaps reported to the better business people, as have happened before, they'll be forced to do something. Though I do miss the early days of Gaia, and the more people stay and rant about it in a like minded community such as this, I think we could get the point across eventually...

Heard of Solia too...but I've been out of main forums for so long that going back in feels WAY weird. Besides, when you see "Who's a Gaian" threads on other sites (my case, on Ernya), the "yay not Gaia" factor goes to hell in a handbasket.
Besides, just too lazy to move over wholesale. At least Gaia lets me have stupidity to laugh at with other people.

One long standing one is "Why did you leave Gaia?" and then there's the usual "Why Solia is better" thread as well. I've been here too long so the stupidity is beginning to wear on me. I'd rather have intelligent conversations then stupid people to laugh at. I'll say this though. Once you see Solia's avatars you know it's not Gaia. I love their avatars so much. They're so pretty.

Really? Well thats good to hear. Most sites have an assload of female things and 3 decent male items that you've got to be super rich to obtain and will never make it due to the way that site earns money. >/
Harder due to CSS? Css is all I ever use on profiles. I hate v2 profiles with a passion. D< They're a pain to code for and if you put in one code, sometimes another one will screw the whole thing up completely. I stick with the v1s profile wise that deal in all CSS only. So shouldn't be too hard there on me.
-nods.- That's understandable and I do have such a nice group of friends here and a nice comfortable thread I have settled into with all us regulars that we hardly get bothered by outsiders, despite it being in the chatterbox.
Well they do have now a place on here under the contact us section to gripe and complain about mods. So could fill that out and see what happens?
The ads and the cash shop offers can be removed. I have no ads on Gaia at all. Thanks to the wonderful program of Adblock plus, I see no ads and I can customize it to block anything I want on Gaia. Including some Gaia content I don't want in my face. The cash shop buttons in the header perhaps? XB GONE!
Yes, Gaian's population has gone up so have the number of morons, its to be expected I suppose, but that's why I usually try and stick to guilds like this one, the ones I run or my thread where all us regulars hang. I don't have to deal with them. XB

Ah, CSS isn't too heard to learn. As long as you can remember the basic tags for color, moving the section around and the section name, you'll be alright.

CSS is more of an "advancely strung" HTML code.
HTML you'd have your tag, then after it you'd have etc, right? All in separate tags?
CSS you put them all together.
You want to effect the about section on a v1 profile:
#about {background: transparent; font-size:14px; color: #FFFFFF; }
Would be what CSS looks like, basically the same things, just placed in { } after the section name you want to effect.
Ah, so you have to have one topic and one topic only and when you get sick of that topic you can't hang there and chat. Lame. But I understand how it is, thus why the creator of a thread I hang in just made it in Chatterbox, so we can talk about anything and everything.

Yep, that's CSS. If you can do HTML, you can pick up CSS easily enough. =D

Only seen octane around years ago, the others I don't know. I don't get out of the Q and A or the chatterbox in my hang out thread much. Occasionally will wander to the anime subforums.

if you enter those into your adblock area by going to adblock, right clicking, preferences > add filter > paste those in... it'll hide those lame a** face book buttons and the buttons in the header.
