I'm planning to play music around the type that Rage Against the Machine plays. Not as crazy as Flea. So is this bass good for me?
Also is the an intermediate bass or how would to categorize it?

No. The Fleabass is priced like an intermediate and built like a cheapo. The pickguard is actually held on with double-sided tape. Even Flea only plays it one song per gig, just to advertise.
Tim Commerford from RATM typically plays modified Fender Jazz basses. If you want a strong entry-to-mid-level Jazz, look at the Squier Vintage Modified series. Though personally, being a RATM fan myself, I think you'd have better luck going for a nicer used bass. Check out Warick's Rockbass line, they go new for about $800 and used for much less. Their Corvettes are pretty much Jazz basses geared a bit more to the metal end of the spectrum.
Hope this helps!
