***Author's Note***
Okay first off... I should warn you this is a story with yaoi themes, violence, and language. Even the slightest. Unless you're comfortable with reading anything shounen-ai, this isn't something you sit on and read. ^_^
I've posted this on aarinfantasy (I'm Serafios there), but people don't seem to have any gall to write comments or critiques. Perhaps I'm missing something.... D:

Summon One: Escape
He hated this time of the year.
Shirase yawned and continued to gaze outside the window while absently fiddling with the pin on his collar. The academy was nearing its annual school fest, and as usual there would be that traditional tournament.
Thwack.
"OW!" he stifled a yelp when a pair of strong arms wound round his neck. Amber eyes met green and glared. "Aso! Can you NOT bounce into people's classrooms and strangle them whenever you can?!"
"Sorry, Ten'ou!" Aso pulled away and leaned on the desk. "Geez, you've always been like this when it comes to anything magic-related. Can't you -"
"No."
"Chill," Aso sighed. He leaned forward and threw his arms around Shirase again (it was gentler this time, he wasn't about to get another lump on his head for pissing the guy off). "Mou, cheer up. We'll skip the tourney and go to a goukon instead."
Shirase raised a brow. "And get drunk by the end of it when the girl disses you? You never were good at it."
But his lips twitched in a small smile. Aso Hazama had been his best friend since they started going to the academy. By far, he was the only person who got along with him fine.
It was better than nothing, his uncle told him. He never got round to getting decent friends.
It was complicated, after all.
Hasudou Academy was the country's school for the elite in magic. Adepts from all castes of society come here to learn and sharpen their skills. It didn't matter whether one was rich or poor.
What did, was how you are at sorcery.
Shirase himself came from an influential family of competent magus. He had practically everything. Save for that touch of magic.
He couldn't use any. That had been the bane of his existence since. Almost everyone in school would tease him on account of that. Even the lowest (Type E) students.
That issue haunted him all the more whenever the annual tournament came by, and he always take to skipping that particular day to spend it in some random place. Anywhere but Hasudou.
Only one particular person had disregarded his lack in magic, and it was that person who was tugging at his collar and dragging him out of the classroom. It was enough to snap him out of his reverie. "Aso, what ---!"
"You want to set a goukon or not?" Aso grinned over his shoulder. "Lighten up. You should be grateful I love you enough to risk getting dumped again."
"You sure have an iron heart, you a**," Shirase muttered, chuckling. Aso slowed down so that they were walking side by side. He snaked his arm around Shirase's. "What can I say... maybe girls aren't my thing... but it's still fun, ne?"
"Hn."
Outside, firecrackers signalled the start of the school fest.
