Options, yes. Do want options. I prefer the 2d look. While the 3d is ...interesting, it takes too much time to spin the damn map around, it doesn't move with your player obviously and there'd be too much s**t to get in the way of battles, so you'd be constantly zooming in and out on the screen to see what the hell you're doing from the looks of it.
No thanks. I'll stick with 2d.

That looks Familiar. Didn't W.O.W Do that? xD
Anyhow. I digress. the 3-d looks interesting, hopefully the keyboard arrows and asdw work, maybe they will have a keyboard shortcut for turning the camera. like the arrow keys control the camera and the wasd keys move you. or vice versa. zoom could be pg up and pg dn xD

While I agree that yes, it's interesting and fairly impressive, (I didn't think they would be able to do something like that) it seems like something that once they start doing major upgrades like that, will eventually require payment if they keep going and with gaia's track record of making all of the "great" things on this site of requiring money >.>.

I play zOMG only cause its simple and relatively brainless. If I have to start remembering camera and movement controls, I am so out of there. Of course, the option between the two would be nice. But considering Gaia's habit of jumping the gun with such changes, its likely only going to appear after the initial change sparks off some major hoo-ha in the SF forums. Comparing with the previous most technically-significant change on zOMG (IMO): the addition of voice chat. That was major, but totally optional and even ignorable. The change to 3D though, would totally change game mechanics (think LOS issues, height and terrain factors coming into play, etc) which would make the 2D option totally impracticable/unbalanced. On to the video. Other than the fact that it was/is a demo (and probably running locally), there are several problems: 1. The avatar is still the 2D type with shuffling feet (pseudo-isometric, i.e. same as current) 2. No mobs! 3. There is NO WAY you could use such a area transition for the WHOLE zOMG world - major lag for most average systems, considering its a real-time MMO (think keeping track of all mobs and players through all the connected areas from Greens to Otami Ruins/Gold Beach). 4. Note how Village Greens is obviously not done - the gate goes into "blue hell". Going purely based on the video, I'll say they're nowhere near a 3D release yet. Plus, too many technical/gameplay objections (especially considering current levels of lag).
