to put it simple, Herahelt is in possession of the Combine. Through the streets they bustle about, as Herahelt is a main stop in trade routes. There are a reasonable amount of rebels here though, who make many attempts to over though the combine soldiers stationed there. These rebels stay in the safety of the many buildings most of the time, venturing out only when it is absolutely necessary.

Trevor was stationed in a small, rundown warehouse in the very corners of Herahelt. His fellow rebels crowded around a table, passing the time by watching security cameras and playing cards. Trevor, the most glum of the bunch, decided to keep the first watch at the warehouse entrance. He hated this place, but it was better then being in the clutches of the Combine. He was told about the kind of horrors that Combine prisoners faced each day,and wanted nothing of it. Trevor examined his SMG, made sure the safety was on and it was loaded correctly. He was glad to be out of the reach of the Combine, but he was just so damn bored.

Carlton was just finishing his patrol of his designated area, when something caught his eye. Something bad. Combine. Still trying to keep in the dark cover that was the building he was in, he spotted roughly 10 Combines, all fully armed with what appeared to be pulse rifles and shotguns. As Carlton was messaging in to the base on his finds, the thing he dreaded most happened. He was spotted.

Carlton looked up to see a shot from a pulse rifle whiz past his face. Fear gave him the adrenaline he needed, and he dashed. He had stopped about halfway through the building, and he was planning to reach the roof. All ready he could hear the sounds of Combine soldiers charging up the stairs, and it was at that moment that Carlton knew he was in deep trouble. In seconds they were in shooting range, despite the ground Carlton was covering. Things were flying past him, but there was no time to tell what it was. Just as escape seemed futile, he spotted a hall way branching off the stair well, and moved into it. He that this would make it a lot easier for the Combine to fire, but if he ran fast enough, that wasn't going to happen. Just as he reached the end, he smashed into a door, knocking it down. Not a wise move. Carlton was momentarily on the ground, with shards of wood all over him. He didn't feel it though. He was too close to getting to safety, that he was willing to have the pains.

Back on his feet, Carlton went through the room. With swift hands he opened up his back pack, and took out his desert eagle, and combat knife. He could hear them, searching through the other rooms, signifying that they didn't see where he had fled to. Getting a chair, he gave a slight barricade, not enough to alert them, but enough so that if they were to come in they were going to have to go through it. It was now that he went at ready for their position. Although he had the advantage, their entrance caught him off guard. They were kicking down the wall! All ready he could see cracks forming, and he knew it wouldn't be long before he was caught. Looking around frantically, he noticed a window, and despite the fact that he was 5 stories high, he gave a deep breath, and jumped through it, smashing the window open.

By luck his fall was cut short, by a ledge, but the fall was still tremendous. He had grabbed the ledge with his arms, and even though he was still hanging on, he could feel the uneasy pain of a dislocated left shoulder. Gritting his teeth he dropped the rest of the way, falling on his feet, but collapsing almost as soon as the ground touched his feet. He was ready to give up. At least he was, until he heard the sound of combine, from a distance. In pain Carlton jerked up, and stumbled away, aware that he was leaving a trail of blood. Limping through alleys, he eventually made it to the secluded fort of the rebels. As he was giving the pass code knock to enter, he almost passed out from exhaustion. This had been a most exciting day. When the knock was accepted he dizzily walked in, surprising the door guard. As he made it to the rebel leader of Herahelt, he stated in gasps of breath: Combine. 10. pulse rifles. blood trail.

With that he collapsed and came unconscious. The message was clear though, they were going to have battle.

( I am assuming this was the base that Trevor was stationed in? )

Trevor heard Carlton message and began to process what was happening. He sighed and pointed his SMG out of the windows cautiously. "Then why did you come back here?" grumbled Trevor, but the messenger was already unconscious.

Suddenly,Trevor felt the entire room come alive as rebels went to their stations and began to activate defenses. He didn't like this. They were outgunned and outnumbered, not a very good combination. Still,Trevor aimed his SMG out the window and spotted the first of the Combine following the blood trail. He heard the leader tell them to hold their fire and wait on his mark. The Combine stepped closer and closer to the entrance of the base until they reached the door. One of the Combine knocked,no answer, they knocked again. Trevor tensed up as they put themselves into breaching position. Before they breached the door,he heard "Fire!".

Trevor, and all the other rebels, unleashed a hail of bullets on the Combine and they were struck down where they stood. Several were killed at the start, but a few were making a run for cover as they blind-fired their Pulse Rifles. Trevor heard cheering, but it was short-lived when the Hunter-Chopper appeared over the horizon and fired a missile at the front of the base. Trevor was thrown back against the wall as smoke covered every inch of his vision. He stood up,several coughing fits ensued, and ran toward the second story where rebels were already manning the turret guns strategically placed to aim at the entrance. Several opened fire at the Hunter-Chopper and it fled the scene, only to be replaced by what looked like an army of Combine.

(( sorry for the long delay))
As the fight was raging on, Carlton could only lie on the ground with his Desert Eagle clutched desperately in his hand. After what seemed like an hour, a majority of his wounds were wrapped up and he was ready to fight. Reloading his Eagle, and taking out his knife, he came down to the bottom of the stairs, where the battle had begun. As soon as he come though, the command to retreat to the upstairs was given. With that he rushed up the stairs, as not to get trampled. When all the rebels were up, and the doors were heavily held down, Carlton ran to A corner, where he placed his head against the wall. All of this was his fault. Only one person would of died if he hadn't scampered to the headquarters. This Thoughts were cut short though, when an explosion resounded across the building. They had broken through the barricade. Next came a flurry of bullets, and the sounds of unlucky rebels being killed. Knife and gun in hand, Carlton Rushed them, keeping low, and shooting high. This seemed to catch the Combine a little off guard, as he was able to take a few down. One combine was up ahead of the others, making him a good target. Carlton rushed him, shot him, and then stabbed him to death. With that he brought the body in front of him, holding it with his knife hand. He had now created a meat shield. Carefully he retreated back, behind a pillar to loot the body. After little time, he found what he was looking for. A grenade. Shielding himself yet again, he advanced on the Combine. When at a good range, he took out the grenade, activated it, and chucked it. When a boom followed by the yell of dead Combine came to his ears, he couldn't help but smile. This would take them back for a little.

When he turned back to the other rebels, he noticed that they were all ready retreating, to what would hopefully be the next hideout.

( It's fine )

Trevor coughed out the pieces of concrete and wood filling his lungs. The Combine were really hitting such a small base pretty hard. They weren't even prepped for such a large scale assault they were experiencing now. Many rebels looked to be ready to retreat at a moment's notice, and Trevor was one of them. Their base leader had several eyes turning to him, waiting for their orders. Finally he caved, "I believe a tactical retreat is in order.." that one line had several men prepping the base for temperature. Trevor was preparing to leave, quickly grabbing his backpack filled with personal belongings.

The men prepping the base were typing on the computers, and Trevor knew why. There was a huge supply of explosives located under the base, when they left,no evidence would be able to be recovered.

Instead of following the line of rebels going out the back way,Trevor opened the window and climbed out. He stood on the old, forgotten fire escape on the side of the building. Trevor looked over to the other side, saw the old abandoned building directly in front of him about fifteen feet below, and jumped.

Trevor landed by softening his knees and rolling. Quickly recovering before the Hunter-Chopper,now smoking from the previous damage, appeared from behind the now empty warehouse. Trevor made a run for it,jumping across the rooftops and over broken Air Conditioning units. The Hunter-Chopper opened fire and the bullets crashed against the ground near his feet. Trevor saw the line of rebels on the street below, and realized that he was leading the Hunter-Chopper right to their base.

Trevor turned in the opposite direction of the rebels, trying to lure away the Hunter-Chopper. He fumbled with his SMG,trying to load a grenade into the launcher. Another gap interrupted him before he finished, which caused him to misjudge the distance. Instead of landing softly on the roof,he crashed through the third story window under it. The glass cut knees and hands, but he kept running through the house just as a missle hit the side of the building. The whole place began to collapse around him,but Trevor escaped by crashing through the opposite window and falling toward the street below.

Luckily,he crashed into a mound of boxes. Unfortunately,he had a few broken bones and was right back where he started,at the empty warehouse.

Crap... thought Trevor.

Still trailing behind the other rebels, Carlton continuously glanced back, making sure that the incoming combine weren't right next to them. When he finally caught up to them, he realized that the group he was following was consisting of only 10 rebels, and that they were in fact, the decoy group. Cursing softly to himself, Carlton observed the area, for any strategic exit, or spot for cover. He was on the roof, and noticed a few pipes, and chimneys. Rushing to a chimney, he spotted another rebel, on his own, luring the Hunter Chopper. Then he spotted the other rebels, heading in the opposite direction of the bait rebel. They were going into what appeared to be an abandoned warehouse. His observations were cut short though, when the Combine began coming. Once fire began, Carlton instinctively ducked behind the chimney. Under its completely cover, give or take a foot, he reloaded his pistol, and brought up his knife, in the case of immediate use.still crouching, he leaned to his left, so that he could hold his gun out, and see the Soldiers. Taking in a deep breath, he open fired, whilst looking at what was going on. Three rebels were dead, one was dieing, and about five combine bodies were lying dead. Dipping back into cover, Carlton reloaded his pistol, and turned back into firing mode. When that round was finished, he spotted only 3 remaining rebels, one of which was being held captive. When the lead rebel of the group shouted "FALL BACK!" Carlton was more than ready. Dashing To the end of the roof, he grabbed the edge of the roof, and dropped, holding himself up with his arm. Luckily his legs found a foothold, and he was able to focus on the incoming combines. In the retreat, the captive rebel was executed, and another was crawling away, with a bullet wound in his leg. Soon after he two was killed, leaving only the groups leader, and Carlton. The Combine were now just playing with them. They took their time coming out, and spreading out, so that all of the remaining ones formed a wall. In total Carlton counted 10, but he knew that there were more, most likely looking for the real group of rebels. Turning his head to the group captain, he waited for a plan. "Open fire, and flee for base." were all he said. Carlton had a full round in his pistol, but he knew he would be unable to reload. gripping his pistol tightly, he awaited the command. As soon as the "Now!" came out of the group rebels lips, Carlton open fired, using his whole clip, and taking down only three soldiers. The leader, four. Letting go of the wall, Carlton dropped, catching onto another ledge, dislocating his left shoulder. Wincing, he scaled the building, falling at the small drops. About halfway down the building, he stopped to look at what was going on. The Hunter Chopper seemed to me zeroing in on the base, meaning the bait failed. Suddenly a blast resounded, and the Hunter Chopper fell with a bang. The RPG team must of been working. Setting his mind back to the goal in place, he continued down the building. When he was almost ready to jump, and get withing safe distance of the new rebel base, he looked up, to see where the group leader was. The sound of gun shots, and a falling corpse answered than question. Speeding up his pace, he was just about to jump, when a screaming pain raced through his right arm. He had been shot. This upset his jump, and although he still landed on his feet, he was slightly dazed. Looking to his left, he spotted another rebel, who if he remembered correctly, was named Trevor. Names aside, he didn't look like he was in good shape, and with Combine still on the move, Carlton bent over to Trevor, motioning for him to get up. They were going to make it through this!

Trevor looked around in a daze, barely seeing the fellow Rebel signaling him to stand. He did a quick self check to see what bones were broken: couple of ribs, probably dislocated his shoulder. Otherwise he felt fine enough to walk despite being barely able to analyze what was going on. The young Rebel barely got off the stack of broken boxes before the Combine went around the corner. Trevor quickly retrieved the SMG around his chest (which was attached by a sling) and finished loading the grenade in the launcher with a satisfying click. The Combine turned to the two Rebels, telling them to put down their weapons. Trevor held up his weapon and pulled the trigger on the launcher. He was thrown on to the ground by the force of the explosion. Again he was thrown into a daze, not to mention Trevor's ears were ringing like crazy.

((lol noobtuber))
Carlton was momentaraly blinded by the blast, but after a few minutes, regained sight, and staggered back to his feet. The combine that had confronted them were dead, so Carlton salvaged them. No use wasting good material. The rebels would use it later. stuffing what he could in his pack, he reached out for Trevor. The base was only a couple hundred meters away, and if they could get there by night, they would be pretty safe. Otherwise they would have to take refuge in one of the nearby buildings, which were possibly infested by headcrabs.

( I apologize for my lack of posting, a dead computer does that to you )

"This isn't my war man, I don't want to be a Rebel..." said Trevor to the veteran, who was trying to hand him a machine gun. The grizzled old man looked at him for a moment, and said quite simply: "Son, I'm afraid you really don't have a choice, it's either us or the Combine..." he lit a cigarette and the aroma filled the small room rather quickly. "...And you don't want to know what the Combine do with prisoners...".

Trevor was suddenly shaken awake as the sudden lack of sound filled his ears. Fear was the first thing that came to mind, fear that he would never hear again. Suddenly sound came rushing back and fighting among the Rebels and the Combine could be heard off in the distance. Another Rebel, the messenger from earlier, was trying to get him up. Trevor tentatively tested to make sure that everything was okay, and despite some small pieces of shrapnel lodged in his legs he was perfectly fine. He stood up and retrieved his fallen machine gun, making sure the gun was loaded and wasn't damaged in the explosion. "We can't go to the fallback base...we'll just lead the Combine right to them..." said Trevor as he checked their surroundings, that explosion must of caught some attention. "So, any ideas Messenger?" he honestly didn't know the man's name, but he decided the name was fitting.
