Title says it all.

Name's Nikki, I'm from the US, New Jersey. I can be considered as Irish from family history. I also have freckles & sort of reddish/brown hair.:p I'd really would like to start to know the bases of the Irish language, so any helpful tips & help will be appreciated. smile

I'd like to see Ireland for myself someday too. It looks so beautiful and green, especially the landscapes.^.^ If you live there how is it like? Give me every bit of detail.:p

Now that I introduced myself a little, it's your turn. biggrin Share a bit about yourself too & where you're from etc.

I've been to Ireland!!

It's gorgeous and if you like farm scenery than that's the place for you. It's green everywhere and the people are just so friendly!

Hi that's great that you'd like to learn some Irish! Look around this forum and you might find some hints and tips to get you started! smile
A lot of the Irish countryside is full of green rolling hills as you would see in the movies - but the whole of Ireland isn't rural! I'm from Dublin, and it is built up as you would expect a capital city to be. It's still quintessentially Irish though and definitely worth a visit. Glendalough in Wicklow is gorgeous if you want to see some great scenery near Dublin. For something completely different you could go to the Burren in county Mayo, I've never been but I've heard it's great to see. Even in a small country like Ireland there are lots of different kinds of landscapes!
Go n-éirí an bóthar leat!

Hey, I'm new to this guild too xD
I don't know Irish and I've never been to Ireland, but I am majorly Irish.
I've wanted to learn Gaelic/Irish ever since I first learned about my heritage. Which reminds me...
What is the difference between Gaelic and Irish anyway? I've heard tell that Gaelic is older and Irish is more modern, but..anyone care to explain?

Gaelic is like latin in the sense that it is a root. Just as Spanish, french and Italian all come form Latin, so do the dialects of Gaelic (scotish, Welsh, Iberian, etc.) come from one original source root.
