My doctor is starting me on Sertraline, and it said in the information pamphlet that I need to be monitored if I take it with Respiridone, which I'm already on. It generally sounds dangerous as ********, though most medications do when you read the warnings. I know it's pretty useless to ask about, considering everyone reacts to medications differently, but has anyone else had experience with this medication? Was it good or bad?

I've taken both. Though, I can't really answer about taking both at the same time.

Here's my experience:

My first quack doctor prescribed me risperadol (respiridone), and thought I had a hallucination problem even though, I had a depression problem that was directly correlated with a social anxiety problem and I was being teased (hence the ACTUAL voices). I was prescribed this along with an anti-depressant, however. The name of this anti-depressant I do not remember. I'll ask my mom and see what it was, but this particular anti-depressant was for depression and did not address my anxiety problem.

These medications made me worse and actually made me aggressive, unable to function in the morning, I was still an anxietal wreak. I eventually was put in a behaviorial clinic.

Now I'm not sure if respiridone works for you, but it made me into a madhouse monkey in the morning.

I switched over to zoloft and I've been fine since. It not only helps to alleviate some symptoms of depression but anxiety as well. There are a list of side effects and people react to it differently, but my experience has been fine and I had taken it for 3 years and have been off of it a year now--now drug free besides my needed TSH replacement pills. My only advice based on my experience is to take it before bedtime as it makes you drowsy. You may feel less functional taking it in the morning.

But do look into the side effects and learn what you can about the medications before starting a second one. I can't offer you much information other than that. Starting a new medication is scary, I agree.

I think I was medication resistant at first, because the first thing they tried on me was Zoloft(Sertraline) and it had no effect on me whatsoever. They had to put me on another one (forgot what) and same deal. Found one that worked, but made me lethargic. So, my experience with the drug in question was: no effect. Not even a side effect to note.
