⋘Roleplay Requirements & How We Operate⋙
☆═━┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈━═☆
If you’re lazy, don’t apply. If you’re a frequently drop-out of roleplays, don’t apply. Please don’t get involved unless you really want to. People who vanish or drop out, I will kill your character so the story actually benefits from your out-of-character antics (or write a “goodbye” post for your character). I don’t say this to be “mean” or scare you away but to make sure the story continues on (with or without you) and has continuity. It becomes detrimental to players when friends, teammates, family members, etc just 'vanish'. I am devoted to making this roleplay work for the people who post and care about it and will strive to deliver a consistent “game”.
+ Frequent Posts, (Activity)
+ One well written, well thought out paragraph is the minimum requirement for in-character posts.
+ Obviously I am hoping to draw serious writers/roleplayers. However I do not consider the length of your posts to = literacy.
+ I will do everything I can to help you but this community requires you have some passion, make posts in the Plot Bunnies section, start threads with other players, weave your characters world and strengthen the fabric of the story as a whole through individual character development.
+ You can have more then one thing going on at different points in different topics! You don't need my permission to start private topics. I do encourage everyone to join in on global storylines and storyteller plots but you're not required to do so.
Please do not do any independent scenes that cause any mass destruction, such as destroying a city or some established canon area of importance, or canon characters. Please don't unleash destruction that would have impact on more than 10 people without the approval of a Storyteller or mod. In storyteller posts and global storyline posts, the storyteller is in charge. You're along for the ride.
If you look around, you'll see a lot of different things going on. Lead by Example is aiming for a connectivity between all players, we have things happening on [x] date that will effect everyone. You can enrich your experience here by diving in, get tangled up in the global plots and your character's personal plots.
"MIA" :: If you go MIA (missing in action), I usually will give you seven entire days of absolutely nothing before I consider you MIA. That is 7 days of no communication from you. After a week of hearing nothing, I will start to make plans to remove your character from the storyline. If I kill you and you magically show up, in the end don't worry... for god's sake this is a Marvel Universe roleplay after all!
Obviously, life happens. People loose power, break a leg, get extremely busy--- that's fine. Communication is the key. If you're going to be gone for awhile on vacation (or for whatever reason) its expected you make some arrangements for your out-of-character absence in-character. If you're going back to school and fear you will become very busy and not be able to post once a day, make arrangements in-character for this! For this kind of roleplay, that's the most efficient way to make the story function --- if you're not going to be here, your character isn't going to be here and you need to come up with some reason why and put that in the story. If you want me (or someone else) to post for your character while you're away (such as a vacation, etc) we can also arrange that or you can ask me (or someone you like more) to come up with an in-character reason for your character not being there. This is easy enough to do.
Literate?
Lead by Example doesn't have a "literacy requirement" though I do expect, as stated above, a well-written paragraph as the minimum requirement for this place. If you consistently prove you cannot do that, you will be asked to retire your character from the game. I hope this doesn't happen but I'm not going to say it won't. I want people, everyone does, to do their best --- it's disrespectful to everyone you're playing with to not produce decent posts! Your posts need to have decent spelling and grammar, be written in a literate fashion and make sense. We're willing to work with less experienced roleplayers as long as you put the effort in and do the above. The tone of this entire roleplay is very serious, given the story and everything else --- this is a dramatic universe that is going to run on heavy character development and interpersonal relationships.
Storytelling
This really isn't something anyone needs to worry about, however, if peeps don't really understand it here is yet another attempt on my part to explain it. Having a storyteller around is just someone who is keeping an eye on the overall game, they work to move plot along, and usually have some ultimate picture for where the main storyline of the roleplay is going and, on occasion, will present scenes/problems or make a world event known. A storyteller may drive a story or add content by posting what's on the news, acting as the antagonistic force of the story, or helping your character to have more of a part in it by leaving notes for them or otherwise involving the character in the global story. Usually the level of the storyteller trying to run plot that is directly related to a player's character greatly depends on the player, what they have discussed, or the detail in their character's history which would allow plot to spawn from it. Upon entering the community, it is probably a good idea to let the storyteller know (which is currently me) if you want them to work out secret plot/events/scenes involving your character or not. Personally, I do not do anything aimed at a specific player's character without first having permission to do so though the storyteller will run global plot, which will involve all the characters. The global plot is usually aimed to drag everyone in but as an online roleplaying community, I write plot that your character may decide to be part or or may walk away from, leaving you in ultimate control of your character. The Storyteller plans and handles all major world events such as the destruction of an area, death of non-player characters (and player characters when the player has gone MIA or requested their character be removed from the game in some manner). The Storyteller approves characters and attempts to make sure people have balanced powers, including acquiring further powers and items that enhance powers.
Well, I hope that explains it a little better!
