I am a u r u m_ENSIS, but you can call me... well, anything really, so long as I know you're talking to me. I've been a gamer since the age of 2, yes 2, with my brother's NES and have continued gaming ever since!
I've got great big opinions on gaming and gaming related topics but I also want to know the opinions of others. That, in a nutshell, is the purpose of this quiz, or survey really. I want to get a sense for where the IAL community's gaming head is at.
The quiz is set up to be pretty casual gamer friendly, there are no questions regarding DRM or Digital vs. Store Bought. Those are things I'm more than happy to discuss if you want, but many might not get it. After you're done with the quiz feel free to stick around and discuss/ defend your answers. 1. Final Fantasy I, II, IV, V, VI, IX, X, XIII; Portal; Shadow of the Colossus; Mass Effect 1 and 2.
2. Favorite Genre.
Role Playing Games. Both western and Japanese.
3. Least Favorite Video Game/ Biggest Disappointment.
Alpha Protocol was my biggest disappointment so far.
4. Least Favorite Genre.
Sports.
5. First Game System.
First I've played was an NES, first I owned was an SNES.
6. Favorite Game System.
Dreamcast and PS3.
7. Game Systems You Own/ Have Owned.
Haha... all... except maybe the Odyssey, Lynx, Jaguar and 2600...

Tie between Zidane (FF IX), Tidus (FF X), and Wander (SotC).
9. Favorite Antagonist.
Kuja, and GLADoS. (FF IX and Portal).

GLADoS (Portal).

All of the Kingdom Hearts series, Final Fantasy VII & VIII, The Drakengard series, the Resident Evil series, the Tekken series, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Smash Bros., the God of War series, Rock Band, DDR, Bioshock, etc. (There are too many I like, sorry!)

Well, as far as story goes, I can't argue, but I've always been a fan of flashy and bat s**t crazy action which DMC is known for...
FF XII wasn't as bad a game as everyone says, but you're right, it was a disappointment. If they had just called it something else instead of Final Fantasy it would have been a critical hit, but everyone expected greatness and was let down. XIII delivered in my opinion though. Good story and the best battle system I've ever played. FFX's Strategic Turn Based battle system is a close second.
Oh, and thanks for getting Simple and Clean stuck in my head...

Well, I honestly believe that Devil May cry was a total waste of gaming development. BUT! I can understand why people enjoy it so much. I mean, the story was absolutely horrible. There's no doubt there. But, the battle system, while lacking MUCH to be desired, was entertaining none-the-least. And c'mon, good guys with badass attitudes? That's always a plus.
I agree about FFXII. I thought the battle system was VERY fun, and the hunting idea was great! But, like you said. If only they'd given it a different name. =( I mean, Final Fantasy is about a deep story and corruption, and FFXII had some of that, but Final Fantasy is also about a deep character design as well as a great sappy romance. And in my opinion, it was lacking both of those. FFXIII was just far too ridiculous for me. I mean, summons that are actually transformers from the 1980's? And chocobos in afros? I felt like I couldn't take it seriously. But, I must admit again. The battling system was rather fun.
Oh, and no problem. I'm good at that sort of thing. =]

Yea, it also helped sales that the guys were irrevocably bishies in true form. From this type of game DMC is my fave, followed by God of War and Ninja Gaiden.
Yes, FF XIII was a bit out there, but FF always is. Gunblade, huge swords, gravity defying hair. The summon thing never bothered me since I never used them, save for when I needed to, they revive the entire party when summoned so they added a bit of depth to the gameplay. And Sahz's afro was a bit upsetting. It is always sad seeing JRPGs treat black people as darker than night, white lipped, and with afros the size of trucks. Just look at Barret, minus the afro... Still, I can look past tom foolery like that and see interesting stories. Plus I just wanted Fang and Vanille to get together SOOOO bad that it pushed me through the game more than anything else.
I honestly get that song stuck in my head every time someone even says something that reminds me of KH...

1. Favorite Video Game(s). Professor Layton series, Chrono Trigger, and Pokemon! -is a huge nerd- Oh, and Rune Factory and Final Fantasy. Yeah~
2. Favorite Genre. D'umm...RPG, mostly.
3. Least Favorite Video Game/Biggest Disappointment. I really didn't care for the new side quests in the DS release of Chrono Trigger. Too fiddly for my tastes.
4. Least Favorite Genre. Choose-your-own-adventure. I'm like, "WOT THE HELL IS THIS neutral ".
5. First Game System. Uh...Super Nintendo, I do believe. Or Atari. (No, I'm not all that old.)
6. Favorite Game System. Super Nintendo! biggrin
7. Game Systems You Own/Have Owned. Atari, Sega Genesis, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, N64, GameCube, Playstation 1 and 2, XBOX 360, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, and DS. Our Atari still works!
8. Favorite Protagonist. Magus from Chrono Trigger, hands down. He's more like chaotic neutral, though.
9. Favorite Antagonist. KEFKA!!! Need I say more?
10. Favorite NPC. Continuing with the Square Enix theme, Schala from Chrono Trigger. ;3;
11. Favorite Musical Piece. Although it is subject to change, right now it's Professor Layton's Theme. So awesome~ -dribbles a little-
12. Game You're Most Excited For That Has Not Come Out. Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. I can't wait until September! D:

Dynasty Warriors series >.<, Resident Evil series, Champions of Norrath, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, Gears of War even though I don't own it, Tekken Series, Mortal Kombat, DMC, the list goes on.

Devil May Cry 2. Just -couldn't- play it.

Sports! Or racing. Both.

Dante. I'm a dirty, dirty fanboy for saying that. But Dante.
Or Heihachi Mishima. I say protagonist for him because he's trying to bring down Jin and the Mishima Zaibatsu. Sure, only to take control again, but still. The -means-, not the -end-.
9. Favorite Antagonist.
Albert Wesker. Calm, collected demeanor, until things go wrong. Then, he's a bloodthirsty monster. Which I can enjoy.
10. Favorite NPC.
Luis, from Resi 4. He make-a me laugh.
11. Favorite Musical Piece.
One-Winged Angel. When a boss gets his own song, sung by a choir and played by a full orchestra, is gonna be one helluva day.

Gears of War 3. Clayton must LIVE. There are others, like Mass Effect 3.

Devil May Cry - LOVE the cheesy one liners.
Wulfgar - Carmine is bound to die once again in Gears of War 3 and it will be an epic death.
Onto FFXIII - It was the best FF since IX; It had a great story, composure, structure and turn-based battles. I've owned and finished all FF games multiple times and this is the closest to the mark that any FF game has come to brilliance since Hironobu Sakaguchi left the Square Enix team. It inspired emotions in the right places, made me laugh with the cheesy one liners (From Snow mostly) and included bad a** fight scenes. The transforming Eidolons were more of an addition and external factor. They kept to fighting the Eidolons so you could control them and just added a more practical use - nothing wrong with that.

Though I really honestly didn't like the idea that RE 4 had no zombies.
I mean, whatever happened to the massive hoards of undead?
Yeah, Las Plagas might have been a good idea, but c'mon people!
Resident Evil is about slow a** zombies!
And walking through eerie doorways PRAYING zombies aren't on the other side!
I mean, I enjoyed RE 4, don't get me wrong.
But still, even Code Veronica still had zombies.
