[OOC NOTE: While this is not something that other characters will have read I find it helps me to understand my character better. I invite you to read it but remind you that your character has not read it.]

The head shrinker that did my exit psych evaluation told me I should keep a journal to help me track what I’m thinking and that if I “see anything unusual, see a counselor.” How would I recognize if I’m unusual? I write anyway, not like there’s much else to do.

America loves the sniper. What I mean is that the sniper is a melding of everything that America loves: a single individual that makes a big difference by melding their person together with technology and bending nature to their will. The best snipers kill opponents at a mile away and more. At that range the opponent is dead and on the ground before the sound of the shot arrives. At that range a five mph wind will push the bullet around two feet and the bullet will also have dropped about two feet. This means that if you point your rifle at the target the bullet will pass right by them or fail to wound significantly. This means that the sniper must understand what nature does to a shot, compensate by adjusting the rifle and know when the conditions are exactly right in order to kill their opponent. Putting all this together with the long history of American marksmen and snipers we know that America loves the sniper and this sniper loves her back.

Saw a man today at the train station, didn’t look like he belonged; had a tense feeling about him. He got into a car with a woman that seemed about as equally tense. Something to watch for …

What’s the difference between a criminal here and an insurgent over there? They both feed on the fear of the people, they both exploit the weakness in the system and they both are best resolved at the end of a gun. The only difference I see is geography. America is a wonderful place but sometimes it is awfully third world and it attempts to resolve these issues with first world ideas. America, you’ve taught me the skills I need to clean these places out and restore your first world order. Once you have been restored I can try once more to be Johnny Civilian and try to get my slice of “The American Dream.”
