You may or may not know that there used to be quite a few electric cars around, until a few years back when they were all repossessed by their companies and crushed. they basically erased them from our memories. you may have been lucky enough to re-learn about them from a documentary called "Who killed the electric car?" You can find it online if you want to watch it.
Anyways, I JUST saw a commercial for the new Nissan LEAF 100% Electric Car!! http://www.nissanusa.com/leaf-electric-car/index I'm so hyped! Finally, no more stupid hybrids! I wish Nissan great success and hope there will be more models available soon.

there is also an excellent company called Tesla motors that makes electric cars that look a whole lot nicer.
this nissan leaf sells for $25280 net, after tax savings, it's $32780 before. it also leases for about 350 a month.
chevy volt (hybrid) sells for $41000 before a federal tax credit
New 2011 Coda electric sedan priced over $44k
