I was making a list of of fish I will like to fill my 10 gallon but need your opinion. So here are my options.
Tank set up one: - Blue Dwarf Gourami - Barb *would like green tiger barbs but willing to change if I have too* - Dwarf Cory catfishs - Snail and/or shrimp
Tank Set up two: - Blue Dwarf Gourami - Fancy Guppies - Dwarf Cories or will do a different fish - Snail and/or shrimp
Tank set up three: - Blue Dwarf Gourami - Tetra *not sure what kind* - Dwarf Cories or will do a different fish - Snail and/or shrimp
I am open to other ideas but I would like the Gourami and the snail to stay. And no Betta suggestions please. Im not going to put one in this tank until I upgrade to a 20 gal and transfer all the fish into that tank then make the 10 gal a betta tank. All suggestions will be read and taken into consideration and thought upon. Thank you for the help ahead of time. blaugh

Well, if you ever do want a betta you'll have to choose between the gourami and betta. They come from the same family so they'll have a lot of aggression. Tiger barbs are a possibility but they're very nippy especially with gourami's because of their long fins. How about cherry barbs, gold barbs, or something like that? The 2nd set up would be okay. Same with the 3rd

When I get the 20 gal the fish in the 10 gal will be put in the 20 gal. I would never mix a betta with other fish like that.
I have to have bright colors in the tank *love bright colors* So I would only like the Cherrys but they are harder to get then the Green Tigers. The closest place to get them is hour and forty-five minute drive and Im not sure if they will survive that drive or not.

They would. My lfs is about 30 minutes away and mine survived about 2 hours out of a tank. I had 9 in the same bag, too.

I might get a mix. All Barbs can live peacefully together and my friend mixed Green Tigers and Cherrys together in the same tank 3 of each. But Im also the type that watch the fish in the tanks to see how they behave. With my last betta I spent a hour moving the betta cups around to see who flared more and who was the most active. That fish lived 5 years. =w= I was proud since that fish had been threw hell and back thanks to my step family.

If you want to get the tigers, you really need at least 6, the more the better. They get really nippy if they're cramped or the school isn't big enough.

IMO Tiger Barbs (any kind of them) do not belong in a 10 gallon, and neither do DGs. Both are pretty acitve and the Barbs get too big to be in a proper school in a ten gallon. You could, however, get a DG and about 5 or 6 Neon Tetras (or Black Neons, those are nice too. A LFS here has albino's, and wow are they cool!), and few shrimp. There are alot of nice ones out there =3
I wouldnt get Guppies with a DG, because Guppies can be a bit crazy some times (I should know, I have a whole 20 gallon full of them XD) and Gouramis are territorial, and putting them in a 10 gallon would not help. I have an Opaline Gourami in with the Guppies and I have to over feed to make sure she gets anything to eat, and then do large water changes every week, to get everything they didnt.
I do realize that the 10 gallon is temperary, but I'm just lookin' out for the fishies 3nodding

I have asked people from a different guild that are very knowledgeable about DG's and one with other schooling fish are okay in a 10 gallon but only one. They only grow up to 3 inches at the max. I had Fancy guppies with Bettas before and they never have been fin biters for me. But I know not many are lucky with that like I am. I like really, really colorful fish that is why I made the list I did. So Black tetras are out since that is dark colors.

It's your choise, I'm just stating my opinion 3nodding Bettas and Gouramis are very picky fish. Some dont mind other fish, while others hate having anything that moves in "their" tank. Keep us posted on how everything goes when you decide to do it =3
