Anyone else have a feeling this is going to suck just like the first one?
What did you think of the first one? Was it as scary as it was made out to be? Or did the plot holes turn you off?
Any hopes for the second one?

I thought the first one was decent. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't outstanding either. There were some parts that I liked, and some parts I wanted to choke Micah.

It's funny that you mention plot holes in the first movie, because the whole draw of PA was that it was "based on a true story" so technically there should be no plot holes, you know?

I find it odd that there's even a sequal because the first was "based on a true story" so I figured there wouldn't be a second. Honestly the first looked bad and the second doesn't seem that promising either.

based on a true story doenst mean much at all, based on can mean that the creal story was just people hearing a bumb in the night

the first wasnt as good as i had hoped, the characters got on my nerves and there was way too much cute couple crap going on. i will probably see the second one because i enjoy hoping for the best

When they say "based on a true story" I think they heard someone tell them something similar, then took the words "ghost, blood, the, and, devil, scared, people" out, putting them in their own script, making nothing else even remotely close. xd
Hardly any "based on a true story" films are truly based on a true story...and even if they were, in fact, true stories; has it been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt? No? Not true then is it.

That catch phrase is all a ploy to get butts in seats.
The plot holes made me lol

The first one is horrible, and sequels are usually worse than the first movies. I'm not holding my breath.

Oh I know. That's a problem I have with...well anything nowadays. They'll say "based on a true story" but more often then not, they aren't. Like that Lost Tapes show on Animal Planet. Before they air an episode, a message pops up on screen that's worded weirdly so it looks like it says "the following is based on a true story" but if you really take time to read it, it says "the following is a rendering of what could happen if the events were based on a true story" so of course they show the message so fast, your eyes are immedietely drawn to the words "based on a true story".

I was pretty disappointed when "The Fourth Kind" was just a hyped fake. Seriously, why claim it's real when it's the age of the internet. Most of us are going to research and know it was faked. confused

Hell, I remember the first time I heard about it and the first thing the trailer says was something like "this is based on the events that took place in 2005"? And of course it was way out in Nome, Alaska so basically one of the most remote cities in the US. But I remember hearing that and I was like, wait...this took place when? I didn't hear anything about it!

I mean really? If what was happening in the movie was happening in real life, the whole country if not the entire world would know about it! Like you said, this is the age of the internet. Someone would have leaked it to the press or post something on the internet that would garner attention. But since that didn't happen, you have to think the movie wasn't actually based on a true story.

Hmmm, I don't recall Paranormal Activity ever claiming it was based on true events. Actually, I think they outrighted admitted that it wasn't. But I could be wrong.

Anyways, a lot of movie critics are saying that this one is actually better then the first. I've never seen it though, so I could be wrong.

I wasted my money seeing the first one in theaters. I was a bit jumpy when seeing it but movies are always a bit scarier in theaters. I don't remember hearing that it was based on a true story but we all know how that works. The Blair Witch Project was supposedly based on a true story and I put Paranormal Activity in the same bull crap basket as that movie. I have no intentions of seeing the second one, sorry.

I was entertained, but not convinced. It was clear by the time the "psychic" left that the movie was a farce. No self-respecting mystic calls them "ghosts."

But I did get creeped out. xD Don't think I'll pay to see this one, either.

I've heard that, too. Critics saying II is better than the first one... I have my doubts, but:

I'm not sure who I should trust more, The Cinema Snob
http://blip.tv/file/4291005/

Or Doug Walker's (Better known as the Nostalgia Critic) Bum review.. *!(Contains spoilers, but if you're like me, you're not going to see the movie anyway; so who cares razz )!*
http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/bum-reviews/28303-paranormal-activity-2

All in all, I still probably won't like or be scared by it. =/
