So this week, #1 of IDW's Transformers comic hit mass circulation. I picked up the version with Bumblebe on the cover, along with a few other comics.
Summary:
The issue takes off right after the last, with Verity and The Onion hopping into Ratchet at the advice of his creepy hologram. After bending fenders with Beavis and Butthead. Then they move into a garage and meet the other human character. They talk, they patch up Ratchet, blahblahblah. Ratchet's hologram is surprisingly versatile and enjoyably creepy. Then the Battle Chargers show up again (in robot mode this time).
Overally this issue is... a first issue. Visually the battle sequence was well done and the robots are all filled with detail. I mean, Alternators level detail where you can actually see their interiors through their windsheilds. Everything else though.... looks rather plain. The colors are all kinda earth-toned but I imagine they'll get better once there's a chance of scenery.
A good start to the ongoing but it's taking it's time. This feels more like #0 part 2. I'm gonna keep collecting because it's transformers, but if it weren't Transformers, well, I'm sorry, but there's a lot of comics out there. 3/5
waiting for Beast Wars:
Pellet reviews of toys now!:
Brakedown: Really nice alien mechanical aesthetic in both modes, good detailed, dull key gimmick.
Clocker: Surprisingly possable considering how blocky his robot mode is, don't care for the exaust pipes though, Swindle color scheme is better, car mode looks better without accessories. Overally pretty cool.
Undermine: Great Beast-machinish detailing, 'meh' transformation and key gimmick, prefer my own fanmode for his dinosaur mode. posable.
Armorhide: Great gun, okay missiles, bulky design.
