Located right next to Violet City, the Ruins of alph are the most well known ruins remaining in the Johto Region, a major tourist attraction for Violet city, and is known for being the first place the odd writing known to be linked to the extremely mysterious pokemon unown was found, psychic types seem to be drawn to the area, among them the most common being Natu, and the occaisional Xatu. Smeargle also tend to make this place their home, mainly because the abandoned walls here make excelent easles.
There are five known buildings in the ruins, one centeral building, which contains the main access point to the lower levels, which feature strange statues of ancient pokemon, and where the writings of the ancient peoples here are most abundant. with the writing so difficult to decipher, however, no one has yet been able to translate the entire collection of writing, and in fact, it seems that in many places, the letters are merely a jumble of characters, and not words at all. the entire place seems to have a strange feel to it, and the writing, each featuring an eye shape in the letters, seem to watch you as you walk...
the four other enterances each lead to a chamber containing more writing, and a stone tablet that appears to resemble some sort of puzzle, but to date, none have succeeded in solving these puzzles, as each table seems to be missing a piece.
The last thing here worth mentioning is the Violet City Archealogical Institute, which is the primary group exploring and researching the mysteries of the ruins. located on the eastern edge of the ruins, the building is obvious, since its the only new building near the ruins, and often, only a few scientists are present, since thus far, nothing has happened to allow deeper access to the ruins.
