Ma'at is order and harmony as well as the creative power of the universe. Demigods often tattoo a hieroglyph of Ma'at on their tongues to help them speak spells clearly. Ma'at is represented by numerous things, including sphinxes. The opposite of Ma'at is Isfet, chaos. Demigods of the House of Life (Per Ankh) seek to uphold Ma'at. In ancient times, this was done by serving the pharaoh, but with the fall of Egypt, they have now turned to banishing the evil gods to the Duat in an attempt to keep balance. Ma'at hinges upon the order of creation, including one's loyalty to the rightful king.

The Duat is the world of spirits and magic. It exists beneath the surface of the waking world and by submerging just under the surface, one may travel great distances in a short amount of time. One enters the shallowest portion of the Duat when they sleep. When evil gods are banished, they return to the Duat until they manage to escape. Items may also be stored in the Duat until they are desired again. The Duat is broken into many different layers including the Abyss, the River of Night, the Land of the Dead, and the Land of Demons.
